I guess if it really came down to it, yes. I’d rather eat anything than starve to death!

  2. Laura says:

I do, kinda… I love to fish. I’ll bait my own hook, catch it, take it off the hook, put it on the stringer……….fillet it. Notice the gap? I cannot administer the “whack” to kill it. somebody else has to do that part for me.

but as for hunting? So far, no, I’ve not been able to do it. The few times Steve went hunting, he brought along a couple of those little styro trays that the chicken comes in, because I always joked that “I’ll try anything once, as long as it looks like it came from the butcher.”

I’m too softhearted to hunt. I anthropomorphize too much.

  3. Nikki says:

If it came down to life or death, of course. It wouldn’t be easy but I would make myself do it. I can’t say I ever have before. Even with fishing, we catch and release. The only fish I eat are the ones my brother catches. I’m not big at all on hunting, so it would take a pretty bad situation for me to do it.

  4. Sue says:

Yes because I’m not starving to death if I don’t have to! I’ve never hunted, but I grew up with my family members hunting so it’s not a big deal to me. My biggest problem would be my aim!

YES! Dove, rabbit, quail, chicken, frogs, crayfish, deer, hogs, fish… I think that’s it so far.

  6. SKL says:

I guess I would. I don’t like killing things, but I do believe it’s not a sin when it’s done humanely for food and not wasted.

My dad taught us to fish and I did the killing and “gutting” part at least once. It was not my cup of tea, but I could do it again if necessary. My dad was also a hunter, but he forgot to ever take me along (all my siblings had turns, but I somehow got left out). Not that I begged to go. He did bring home what he shot (mostly quail, pheasants, squirrels, rabbits) and he would dress and cook them and give us all a taste. I would watch him dress them. So I think I would be OK with hunting, again, if I “had” to in order to feed my fam.

  7. Joy says:

I’m with Laura on the fishing deal. I love to catch and eat fish. I guess if it were me or starvation I could but it would be really hard. I have no problem eating what’s been hunted but I just don’t think I have it in me to actually do it. But if it’s that or death. Yes. I would.

  8. Phyllis says:

I haven’t so far, but if it were a case of “do or die” I probably would after exhausting the berries, etc. in the area. One year my brother tried to talk me into doing a survival week for a vacation. He figured that as long as I was goofy enough skydive I might just go for it. WRONGO! My response to “living off the land” was quite simply, “uh, hell no”!

  9. Jason says:

Yeah! Now if I could just get my wife to join in the feast, and not say that it taste gross when our son is around.

  10. kweenmama says:

I would have to be very hungry.
