What ever possible. Unless its an election year. Then Id need more info. 🙂

  2. Joy says:

I would try to get to the bottom of it in person to make sure it’s not just a rumor and then I guess if it were really serious I’d call 911.

  3. Jason says:

I would report it. In this day and age it is better to be safe than sorry.

  4. SKL says:

I would report it to the Facebook authorities, whoever they are. I assume there is someone on staff all the time who could find out who and where that person was and call the authorites. Of course if I knew the person and where he was myself, I’d do something more direct. 911 if I thought it was a serious, immediate threat.

If someone is dumb enough to “joke” in writing about killing in a public forum, then it’s their own fault if they get 911 called on them.

Of course, I assume you are talking about an actual threat, and not a mom like me saying “I’d kill my kid if she did that.” Although, even that is kinda dumb to actually write.

  5. Jenny says:

    Yes I would report it.

  6. Phyllis says:

I’d do whatever was possible as well as reporting it.

  7. Laura says:

Yeah, I’d see if I could help. It would really depend upon how well I knew the person. If it was an acquaintance – some of them, I don’t know where they live, so calling 911 isn’t really an option…. “911, my friend just posted on FB that she’s going to kill herself, but I only know that she lives somewhere near Orlando.” What can they do with that?

I dont’ think that FB is manned 24/7, so contacting someone that way wouldn’t work. Perhaps I’d try to get in touch with the police in the area… in my example, it would be the Orlando Police. Give them the FB information and tell them what’s up. Let them handle it from there.

If it was a closer friend, I’d be all over them. Calling, contacting other friends/family, driving over, whatever needed to be done.

  8. Nikki says:

I would handle it pretty much like Laura said she would.
