Joy and I each had “product parties” this weekend. Like the Tupperware Parties of old, these are full of ladies who enjoy an afternoon of sitting around talking with their friends, eating lots of food that would never appear anywhere near their perpetual diet plates, and buy a bunch of stuff that they’ve convinced themselves that they cannot possibly live without. Men will never understand this, it doesn’t involve sporting events, vehicles or cigars.
Still, guys, you’ll have to take our word for it, they’re fun. And we ladies almost never discuss the products before us, except during the fifteen minutes or so it takes us to make our decision and fill out the order form. After that? It’s gossip-time, all the way. And ‘who made this? it’s amazing! I need the recipe!’ and ‘I just love those shoes, where’d you get them?’ Very similar to ‘did you see that play last night? The ref needs a dog and a white cane! What an idiot!!’ See how that works?
So. We’ve got our products laid out before you. I brought purses and tote bags, Joy brings lovely scent-bricks and the warmers to diffuse them. Grab a cookie, some trifle, and a cup of soda, and look over the merchandise on your way back to the table for some good ol’ fashioned chit chat.
And while you’re listening to the conversation around you, remember that our parties are “open for business” for a couple more days, so you can order something for your deserving and beautiful wives. The links are below. 🙂

I had a great time at my party. My two daughter in laws helped me SO MUCH. They did all the clean up while I did my “talk” with the Scentsy guy (Mark). I went to take the chairs downstairs last night and the girls even did that. Thank you guys. SO MUCH. Thanks also to those of you who came.
I was at a prayer thing tonight for my friends dad who died on Thurs and I always feel sad after those. I’ll come back tomorrow and do a little more chatting.
I had a good time at my party, too. It was a bit nervy, since all around us the tornado sirens were apparently going off – but in our county, we were only ever under a watch, and watching the RADAR, it completely avoided us – one cell went to the north, the other to the south. Meanwhile, we had a good time, ate WAY too much food, and did a lot of fun chatting. Ours was a two-fer – I provided the house, and my friend and I each hostessed our own party, so we had a lot of different friends around. I wish more people could have been here… when I scheduled it, I had forgotten that this is graduation weekend! Everyone was at grad parties! Oh, well, we had fun anyway.
I had fun too 🙂 I have a new smell going right now – Kahiko Hula. Smells pretty yummy so far! I don’t mind product parties. I’d rather go to them than have one, but I’ve had a couple in the past. Pampered Chef and Lia Sophia. (Have I had anything else? Does anybody remember?!) Oh, Mary Kay too. Haven’t had any of them in a long time so I was beginning to think it was time for another one! Some ladies at work have had Norwex parties and swear by the stuff so I’m contemplating that. Once I get my order and try it out I’ll decide if I have to have more!
Heh. I was just invited to a Norwex party tonight! Before that, I had no idea what it was. Guess I’ll find out, eh?
I have Kahiko Hula in mine right now also. It’s one of my favorites! I can’t wait to get all my news scents, and new warmer.
What did you order? I was so busy talking to everyone that I don’t know what anyone ordered.
I got the Lotus warmer and 6 new scents; White Tea & Cactus, Luna, Havana Cabana, White Sands, Wishing Well and Satin Sheets.
Nice. I wonder who names some of these scents. How do you just think “oh, I think this smells like satin sheets!”
LOL I know! How about You Go, Girl! Or French Kiss?!
I was stuck on which warmer to get, but this one will be for my bedroom, and I am doing a brown and tan theme on there. I thought this one would look nice. I want that Ivy one, and the pearl one also. I also like the a few of the plug in ones.
I love the tea rose plug in. I finally ordered that one.
I have that one! I hope you got a lot of goodies from people ordering!
She got lot’s of goodies! 🙂
Well! This was quite the weekend (following quite the week). I knew it was gonna be a tough one, so I can say it wasn’t any worse than I expected. I’m not sure if I already explained this, but my boss-partner decided to have a shindig at our new building during the big Asia Festival that was occurring several blocks away. We bought an old building and are in the process of renovating it, but the part where we had the event is not anywhere near done. It was OK except that the floor was yucky. We had several tables of ethnic stuff from our own inventory, some other exhibitors (hoping to make sales), and some international music/dancing performances, and we offered tours of the building. We commissioned the local Lolly the Trolly to make regular stops at our building and give a little spiel about it. It was all pretty good except that we didn’t get as much traffic as we’d hoped. Anyhoo. It was a lot of work and expense, and I’m not one to regret the past, but we’re not sure it was all worth it. It was kinda fun, though. The girls had a blast. They were thoroughly tired and dirty at the end of both days. All of our feet hurt. But we’ll survive.
So now we are hoping that work gets back to normal and we get caught up on some things this week. I’m still working on getting the house back to normal after boss-partner’s siblings’ visit last week, and now there’s rearranging to do after raiding the handicrafts inventory etc. But I already got a lot done. The next home project is to switch out my kids’ tot beds for a bunkbed – not sure when that will occur, but maybe next weekend. I also believe there will be a charity pickup this week, so I need to get rid of some more stuff by then.
This past week, in an effort to get rid of the leftover junk food from the houseguests, and also out of sheer exhaustion during this weekend’s event, I ate an inordinate amount of junk food. So now I don’t think there is any more junk food left, except for stuff I will never eat such as ethnic hot & spicy stuff and chocolates. Only time will tell how much damage my temporary binge will do. In my defense, I did a lot of exercise, so we’ll see.
What do you all think – given 2000 calories of junk food, is it better to spread it out or eat it all in one day – assuming you won’t then eat any more in the future?
Not much else to talk about right now. I hope everyone has a great week!
I had a lot of fun on Saturday. Thankfully the food we had was all okay to eat, in moderation. I can’t seem to get enough of that damn dessert Toby made! I brought some home, thinking at least Bailey would eat some, and he didn’t want any of it. So, it was left for me to eat. Darn it!
Saturday evening we had such a bad storm come through. Hail and rain like I have never seen before. Within minutes everything was flooded, we had piles of hail, leaves covered everything!!! It was a torrential down pour!!! Then Sunday, a deadly tornado hits Minneapolis and thankfully, as of last time I heard, only one person died. I can’t help but get scared, because that is a little too close to home! Plus we have friends that live that way, I’m still waiting to hear if they’re okay.
For us, Sunday was a relaxing one. Since practice was cancelled we just hung around and watched TV most of the day. Got the house, lunches, clothes, uniforms all ready for Monday. The boys have an away game today, so I'm hoping for NO MORE RAIN!!!! We've had enough already!
Have a good Monday, everyone!
I will only go to and have scentsy parties. I don’t like any other products. I kinda got suckered into buying at Kathy’s pampered chef party. I didn’t go to the party, but I went after thinking everyone was gonna be gone. Well the lady was still there and she gave me a book right away. So I felt like I had to buy something! You ladies are gonna love the new scents that you’ll get! Make sure you write them down for my party in July! LOL 😉 Food was delicious Joy. Loved the dessert and I’m not a huge fan of raspberries or blackberries. I can’t stand the little seeds in there. But this dessert was too good to pick them out!
I hate those seeds too Jenny. I won’t even eat strawberries.
I’m not a fan of “home parties” either. I do like Pampered Chef and LOVE Scentsy and I like Tupperware too but when one person has a party it spiders out and everyone has one and what do you buy after everyone has a party? That lady at Kathy’s party was VERY pushy. I’d never have her as a hostess. I was looking at my jewelry last night while I was getting ready to go to the funeral home and I have so much of that Lia Sophia jewelry and I never EVER wear it and only felt like I had to buy it. Now I just don’t go to them unless I really want something or am bored silly and want to get out of the house.
I sure wish we’d string together a nice few days. We’ve seen nothing but rain since Friday. My old neighborhood got hit with a tornado last night. My nephew took a bunch of pictures that just make me sad. I could never live over there. Fridley is like a magnet to them. It really looks like a bomb went off in some of those pictures.
I have a couple of loads of laundry to do and a little picking up. The cleaning lady comes tomorrow but I cleaned for the party and it’s not so bad preparing for her today. But I have a lot of laundry since I’ve been wanting to hang it outside but it could rain for days and I’ll have to hang it in here to dry.
Tonight is the dreaded weigh in!! I think I’ve done just “okay” this week. I started off really good last week and worked out steadily hard but then I got two Richard Simmons “sweating to the oldies” and I really overdid it and was so sore for 3 days that my body couldn’t move. I’m pretty sure I haven’t gained but I’ll be surprised if I lost more than 2. I better not have gained!!!!! Then after my meeting there I’ll head over to the high school to see Trin’s first band concert. She’s so excited. She keeps asking me if I’m coming.
I have blog work to do today too. Questions of the day and some “serious” work needs to be done. Have a great day all.
Saturday was Joy’s party and what a party she had. I’m not really the “Sales” type of person but I found about Scentsy I knew it was for me. Scentsy sells itself that is for sure. If you have company walk in and you have Blueberry Cheesecake warming they will notice and will have to ask what is that smell. It’s great!!!! From Joy’s party we booked 3 party’s for the upcoming months that is the most I have ever booked at a time!
I’m so excited for the 20 Bring Back My Bars – As soon as I get a complete list I will let you all know. These top 20 Bring Back My Bars are only available for a 1 month period. So keep you calendars open JULY is that month….
My heart goes out to the people who was affected by the storms this weekend.
I hope one will be the Lemon! 🙂 Thanks for becoming a Scentsy Consultant, you’ve made us all very happy, and our husbands hiding our wallets!!!! 😉
You’re welcome Nikki – thank you for becoming a wonderful Customer 🙂
Root Beer Float BABY!!!!!
Jason wanted to know if there was ever a scent like, pine cone, or pine needles.
We have a scent called Clarity that does smell like pine – During the holiday season there is a Christmas Tree scent that comes out. My personal opinion is the Clarity over the Christmas Tree -I will bring you a sample of it when your order comes in.
I love clarity! Its such a clean smell! I think the christmas tree one smells like a bathroom or urinal. lol
um… I think I’ll be writing THAT one down. I’m a big fan of pine scents. But I really don’t want my house smelling like a urinal. Even a clean one.
Laura you would really like the Clairity one – It’s very nice scent – like Jenny mentioned it’s a “Clean Scent”
i’ll probably do that around Christmas then. I usually hold the pine stuff until then
Thank you! 🙂 I’d love to smell the Clarity.
I have a whole list of work to do today and not much is going on in internet-land to distract me. So why am I so bummed? Ha ha. I guess I’d better get to work.
