I wish I could say I was completely ready but I’m not. I “have” everything and know where it all is but I don’t have any of it packed up in the basement or anything. Shame on me I know.

Joy, what we do is have our “Hurricane Locker” stocked. It’s a large water tight plastic storage thingy. We have our canned food, can opener, flashlights with extra batteries, portable radio, candels, lighters, etc. If we see a hurricane in the forcast we will get gallons of water.

If a hurricane is immenant we fill the tubs with water and leave a bucket in the tub of water so we can use that for flushing the toilets.

We rarely get tornadoes but every once in a while we do.

I know. I have everything I’d need but it would be hard to grab it all on the way down. Tornado’s would be our only big worry. Well, that or a bombing and if we got the big one, we’d all be goners. I do plan on doing what you said. It only makes sense.

Ready or not, Hurricane Hunter has set up shop at our house. I don’t think you would ever know if a tornado came through…..

No. If I tried to stock up on everything I “might” need, my house would BE the disaster. I have a flashlight and radio in the basement and usually have some snacks and water I can grab when I head down there.

Mentally, though, I’m prepared for pretty much anything. I’m not much of a worrier. If it happens, it’s meant to be. If it’s my time, it’s my time.

    No, not really!

I have food in the basement that may or may not hold us for anywhere from a couple days to a week or better. only have enough water, though, for a day or two. Unless we break into the hot water heater, then we have a few more days worth.

I don’t have “go bags” packed, though. I should. It’s on my to-do list, just like everything else. I’m just hoping that if there is a need, it’s a “stay at home” disaster and not an “evacuate immediately” disaster. Although there IS a nuclear power plant less than an hour from me…

    No, not at all!
