What’s your motivation?

In an attempt to motivate herself to lose weight, Sen Clair McCaskill tweeted, “I’m tired of looking and feeling fat. Maybe talking about it publicly will keep me on track as I try to be more disciplined. Off to the gym.” What is your trick for self motivation? Is it a public admission? Do you vow to yourself? What is your key to ‘keeping on track’ and this isn’t just for dieting life style changes. But for your vice. Come on, we all have em.

    I think I have to get disgusted with myself, and then I can make a big change and stick with it. Right now I am looking at the spare tire I recently put on since our house was full of food and I couldn’t bear the thought of throwing it all away. I had been doing pretty well before that. I also stopped doing the little exercise ritual I’d developed the habit to do every day. Just remembered the other day that I’d totally forgotten about it. I really noticed the “blob” while getting into my bathing suit today. So right now I’m just about disgusted, and hopefully I’m about to get on a “good” kick which will last long enough to meet my goals.

    It is suddenly there. I cannot describe it. I wanted to loose weight for a long time, but every time I forgot I wanted that. But now, I feel I am in a pattern of making the right choices food wise. It is also that when I have some kind of event, like my wedding (I had to gain weight then!!) or when I came to the States to live here, I had a goal and that helps me also.
