When I was in a navy squadron I was given a nick name that stuck for years. MANFRED. Manfred the wonder dog was on Captain Kangaroo. He had a big nose. Sailors can be mean. Lol

I used to be called Spam during highschool, and not it wasn’t because I had an undying love for the processed meat product, but because someone couldn’t remember my name and called me Spam and then the next thing you know all my friends were calling me that. Every once in a while when I go back home one of my friends calls me Spam. Oh and my wife has a couple of nicknames that she likes to call me, but only when no one else is around……. Like A$$hole, and Dumba$$, and pretty mch anything else that can be used with A$$!

Jen, J, & Ferfy, oh and when I was younger Ralph (family friend) gave nicknames to all the kids and he nicknamed me Grizz Frizz

When I was growing up, my nickname was Maynard G. Krebs, beatnik extraordinaire. 🙂 It was given to me by a long time family friend and he gave all of us kids nicknames. I think I landed Maynard b/c I always looked disheveled! I don’t remember looking that way, but that’s what everyone tells me!

I haven’t been called a nickname in a long time, unless you count my actual name followed by “ie.” Sometimes rhymed with silly words relating to body type.

When I was little, in school, I was often called “icky” or “it.” Some of us start young!

Not sure if I’m drawing a blank or if I really never had any interesting nicknames.

My oldest brother called me “Hambone” for the longest time. No idea why. But it stuck around – really just him calling me that – for years and years. A couple of years ago, I asked for one of those great big canvas shopping bags from LLBean, and my family bought one for me… and personalized it with “Hambone”!! So I guess it’s still out there.

When I was in high school, all the girls on the Swim Team had a nickname. Mine was Drugs, for two reasons… one, it was kinda short for my last name, and two, my initials used to be LSD. They all thought it was soooo cool that my initials were hallucinogenic!

Finally, my husband often calls me Dear. Drives me absolutely crazy – I hate it, but I think he just does it out of habit… it’s just one of those “pet names” that some husbands use.

I used to have a lot of different nicknames but nobody really calls me any anymore. It’s pretty hard to shorten Joy.

I’ll admit that I think nicknames are fun though and I do miss being called some of mine. I also think a lot of times you really need a special relationship with someone in order to have them give you a nickname.

  8. Nikki says:

Well, seeing as my name is Nicole, I had the nicknames that are a given. Nikki, and Nik. When I was in the 6th grade my best friend called me Cole or Colie. The girl whom I care for calls me Cole. Out of all my names, including Nicole, I prefer Nik.

I love nicknames. I think they’re fun. We have nicknames for almost all of our boys on the team. Ones that will stick for years, I’m sure!

my one brother and a few cousins would call me cornball when we were younger.I have no clue where they got that from.I hated it and of course they knew that so it made them use it all the more!now my hubby calls me Sugie or My love, now those I enjoy being called.
