Which Is Worse For You: Cold Or Heat?

Here’s a Good Question for everyone. What do you think? What’s the hardest thing for you to deal with? The heat or the cold? What do you think is worse for you “health” wise?

Me personally, I’d rather have it brisk. I love the 50’s and 60’s. I love jeans and sweatshirts. Socks and a nice comfy pair of tenny’s. I love the leaves that fall and the way they smell. I also love parts of summer. I love swimming and boating and I do love to lay in the sun sometimes. I love my flowers and I love in the spring the way I have a pair of geese who return year after year to lay their eggs. I like to fish and I love to read on the deck, cook out and eat there. I really miss my deck with winter hits.

On the other hand. I also love winter. I love how the fresh clean snow looks. I love how my clothes hung on the clothesline smell. I love the crispness of the air and I love the festivities that winter brings. We still cook out on the grill but we eat inside and the food is still good. I love all the birds who gather here for the winter and I love to watch the deer feed out my window at dusk. I love riding my 4 wheeler in the winter too.

I guess given the 4 season’s, I love fall the most. What about you? What do you love and hate about the changing seasons? Would you like to live in a one season place?

For me it’s much easier to cool off than it is to warm up.

When its hot out you can only take off so much off before you’re naked. Atleast when its cold, you dress in layers. Now I hate really cold. But like Joy, I love sweatshirts, sweatpants, long socks & hot drinks. As far as season goes, my favorites are all except winter. Fall its getting cooler, the trees are so pretty and it reminds me of apple picking and pumpkin picking. Spring the flowers start coming up..summer you get to go swimming. I would enjoy winter more if it was like 1-2 months out of the yr.

I don’t really mind it either way. I would rather have the cooler temps. But after spending the first 18 years of my life in the south and the next 10 in the northern mid-west, I have pretty much seen the the whole range of temps. There are a couple of older men that I work with that have a harder time with the heat. I usually try to keep a close eye on them when we reach the extreme days.

I love winter. I love to ice skate, I love snow. I even love blizzards when I have enough warning to prepare wood and lay in food. I love fall, too. Like Joy, it’s ‘sweatshirt’ weather, and crunchy leaves and decorating with pumpkins and all that. Bonus… Josh’s birthday is in fall, too. It’s my favorite season, by far. I love watching the leaves turn.

Summer, for me, is endurance time. Although I love to swim, there is so much around this place that needs done during the summer, if I’m home, I’m working on crap. Mowing, weeding, chopping, etc. I’m not a fan of gardening, but we have one, so I maintain it. And summer is when every-darn-thing seems to break. So like I said, summer is for enduring. Oh, yeah, and it’s bloody hot, too!!!

I agree with Jenny – you can pile on the clothes in winter, but you can only take off so much when it’s hot! Recently it became ridiculously hot here, and since I work at my hot computer in my upstairs bedroom where the sun beats in in the morning, I may as well be in a sauna. There are times I wish I could throw all my clothes of, but even if I did, I might still be hot and sweating. On the other hand, it doesn’t “kill” me. I have a fair tolerance, but not always an equal measure of patience with weather extremes.

My favorite season is fall. But there are nice things about every season. So I am glad I live where I get all 4 of them.

I think I prefer summer. At least here in Southern California. We leave near the coast, so it is never too hot. We do not have winter but we can go up the mountains and play in the snow. I do miss the crisp of leaves on the streets and that smell in fall. In September/October I now and then smell it here when I go outside in the early morning.

I can tolerate both cold and hot pretty well. My favorite time is fall, too. After a hot summer, I’m ready to put on some pants and warm sweatshirts! But, I would rather have it warm. More things grow when it’s warm! I love the leaves on the trees and not seeing my neighbors 😉 I love picking fresh things out of the garden. I love wear no socks! I can deal with cool and even cold, but as I get older I hate winter more and more! That said, I don’t think I could live someplace that has 1 season. The change is nice.

I do love summer. Mainly because of all the activities. Fishing, baseball, BBQ’s, days at the beach! I also love Fall, the cool brisk air. Going up north and appreciating nature at it’s finest. I love taking the kids tot he pumpkin patch, all of the holidays that come with Fall. And I LOVE sitting around a bon fire in a nice warm hoodie.

Winter is tough for me. I love the snow-the look of snow. I love that my son gets to grow up playing in it. I love it more for him, than me. It just gets too long for me.

I also love Spring, and like Mssc mentioned, watching everything wake up and bloom is so fun! I love seeing flowers come up for the first time of the season. It’s a nice change after a really long, cold winter.

But if I had to pick a favorite, I’d go with summer. Fall being a very, VERY close 2nd.

My least favorite would be winter. It’s pretty and exciting but you’re stuck in for so long and I worry about those who have to drive long distances for work. Health wise…at times this last winter, I actually said, “This cannot be good for you!!!” lol

I do much better in heat than cold! I absolute despise winter. I’m not that crazy about snow, but it doesn’t bother me overmuch, it’s the freezing temps I cannot stand. I like the way snow looks when it sticks to bushes, trees, etc. Very beautiful. There are only so many layers you can put on and still move freely and I don’t like living under blankets to read, watch tv, etc. Summer I like anything up to about 82 degrees. But even higher than that I manage well because my body works in a manner that once I shower or take a cool bath my body stays cool for the rest of the day.I’ve been like that since I was little. Start getting too warm after that? I’ll have ice cream cause it cools me from the inside out.

My favorite seasons are spring, when the world is coming out of hibernation, and fall, with the cooler temps and fabulous colors all around. I, too, enjoy the jeans and sweater/sweats look and like wearing them.

I’m from the southern US and summer hits hard. It was only recently when forced to evacuate for a hurricane that I learned just how hard. I was forced to stay with my grandmother my cat and the two
dogs in a modern brick house with no air conditoning. (Old houses in the area are built to cool naturally
and it’s surprising how comfortable they be in the worst of it.) My dogs were a life saver – I noticed how
they lay on their bellies on the hard kitchen floor and copied them – (when no one is watching of course)
That summer was horrible, but it taught me some things. Like how the dog days came to be called the
    dog days.
