Only at night time we lock our house. Nope no spare key outside.

    Sometimes. and yes.

No. We (1) live in the country, and (2) have these massive glass sliding doors with huge rocks all around them, which would make breaking those windows exceedingly easy. So locking up is kind of a moot point. We do lock up when we go on vacation, though. I DO have one of those “key hiding rocks” outside, but you pull the little drawer open where the key is supposed to be? And there’s a note in there that says, “you don’t really think I’m that stupid, do you?”

We live in a city, so we usually have our doors locked. Sometimes I’ll leave it unlocked when I run to pick up my kids, but not if I’m planning to leave the house empty for hours.

My housemates are much more paranoid than I am, but I think they just expect me to lock the doors after them, because when they leave and I’m home, they don’t bother to lock the door nor close the garage door. Which is kind of dumb, considering that I don’t use the same door they use, and I might not think of checking the lock after they leave.

And no, we don’t leave a key outside.

Speaking of paranoid, we used to have this exchange around here fairly often:

Let’s leave some lights on while we’re gone.
    Why? Waste of electricity!
Because I don’t want people to think we’re not home.
Let’s close the blinds while we’re in the house.
Because I don’t want people to think we’re home.

Most of the time and no.

  6. Joy says:

The only time our door isn’t locked is when we’re up and about. If I didn’t open the door till 5pm, it would stay locked. I didn’t use to care that much figuring that if someone wants to get in they will but the mailman, UPS man or someone might set something inside the door and let Maddie out. That’s the main reason I make it a point to lock it when I go somewhere. I’ve had Jehovah’s Witness’s open the door and set their crap inside.

Yes, we have a key outside because I lock myself out ALL THE TIME.

  7. Phyllis says:

Yes, I always lock my house. Our house was broken into about 25 yrs ago and since then it’s always locked. Sometimes there’s a key outside, sometimes not.
