I was a life guard and taught swimming lessons for years but thankfully, I never had to use those skills. But I did let the men in the house live. The way they were sometimes, I think that’s saving a life.

The above comment was from Jenny and yes she did, I can’t believe the time our son was choking on some fruit and she gave him a big slap on the back causing him spit up the fruit. I have been fortunate to save my own life when everyone else was just standing there watching me bleed profusely.

Yes, my youngest sister was drowning in a ditch when we were little. I was to young to think clearly so I jumped in and pulled her out.

When our 27 year old daughter was 15-16 years old I saved her life too. I kept myself from beating her to death on more than one occasions!

I was gonna say no, but then I saw Jason’s comment and remembered the time I stopped my kid from choking. Who knows, maybe I saved her life. Of course, when my kids start faltering in the swimming pool I’m there, stuff like that, but I just see that as being a mom. I can’t think of any dramatic incidents where I was Ms. Heroine, but who knows – my sibs and I lived on the edge and had plenty of close calls.

Once my grandma was choking when I was a teen, and all I could think to do was run and get my mom, who performed the Heimlich and probably saved her life. I knew about the Heimlich, but somehow I was paralyzed at the thought of doing it. Weird.

Has anyone ever saved my life? Aside from my parents and God, I don’t recall. I remember when I was about 7 and “thought” I knew how to swim, so I was fishing in a precarious spot and fell in. Then I realized I didn’t quite know how to swim. My dad saved me from drowning (but his fishing pole wasn’t so lucky). I’m told that wasn’t the only time I was dumb enough to need saving from drowning.

My two sisters were almost drowning and I jumped in the pool and tried to save them, but then one of my sisters held me head under water so she was above the water. Then I almost drawn. The life guard saved me then.

  5. Phyllis says:

Remember the discussion about the scariest thing that ever happened to us? Well, everyone told me that I had saved my friends life that night. I don’t know if that’s true or not, I just kept pressure on her head wound til help finally came.

  6. Nikki says:

I’ve never saved anyone’s life. Jason, in a sense saved my life…who know where’d I’d be right now if I didn’t meet him. I’m afraid to even think about that…6 feet under, jail, living in the slums!

I didn’t think abut my answer when I wrote this question, I was more interested in everyone else’s answer!

  7. Karen Joy says:

I saved my nephew from drowning. It was actually on his birthday,I think his 7th.He reminds me every year when we go to the beach where it happened.
