T.G.I.F.

Another weeks passes, and another weekend arrives. We’re just that much closer to school starting. Bailey is ready, I suppose. He had such a great summer, I know there is a part of him that will miss it. Being able to just get on your bike whenever you want and hang out with whoever you want, do whatever you want. He had quite a bit of freedom this summer, and not one time did he disappoint me by being irresponsible. I’m hoping that responsibly will roll on into the new school year.

I had a pretty uneventful week, which is fine by me. This weekend is school shopping. Thursday was Jason’s 35th birthday, and with it being on a Thursday we didn’t do much. Had a nice meal of BBQ ribs, baked potato and a salad. Our niece made him a birthday cake so we even  had dessert….although I was afraid it wouldn’t last until supper was even done. He sat down the minute he got home and ate 1/4 of it! Great job Trinity! 🙂

Go ahead, unload your week? Tell us about your weekend plans.

Have a great weekend!

So my kids are situated in their new classrooms. Unofficially the first day was Monday, but officially (per the public school schedule), today was the first day of Kindergarten. So, I’m now the mom of a school-age kid. It still seems surreal. I didn’t have a lot of time to contemplate this. Plus, Miss A doesn’t know this, but I still have a bad taste in my mouth about Miss E being left behind. But mostly, I am glad that we are moving right along. I’m getting more serious about doing learning stuff at home, and this weekend I’m going to buy some homeschooling materials for Miss E. Next week school gets more serious. All the extracurriculars start back up, the kids will have daily homework, and I will be keeping a log of what Miss E is doing, with the hope that she will be considered for 1st grade next year.

I’ve been messing around on an internet forum for homeschoolers. It’s amazing to me how many people are doing so many different things to meet their kids’ needs. They have like a hundred acronyms for different curricula – how would a person know where to start? They also have general topics, and strong personalities to deal with. I am trying to figure out how to use it wisely, so I don’t spend more time than it’s worth to get what I want out of it.

Miss E begged to learn chess. I happened to have this awesome book which is a storybook as well as a chess lesson with a mini paper chess set attaced. It’s for older kids, but I dug it out since she kept asking. Now she reads/plays with it every day. If her interest keeps up, I’ll dig out the glass chess set that I have in the basement. Not sure what I’ll do if she beats me before she’s five.

Work-wise, I was in a major funk the first half of the week, but I’m better now. I do wish there wasn’t so much political crap involved in all of my work. Sometimes it would be nice to spend a whole day without encountering an asshole.

In the past few days, I’ve received 3 emails from people in my past. Two from exes and one from my ex boss. Is there something in the air?

So this weekend, we have shopping to do. Fall school clothes, new coats, homeschool books, plus the usual bi-weekly stuff. I’m still on the project of switching out books, so I suppose I’ll work on that in my spare time. Of course, I’ll be working the usual weekend hours.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

It wouldn’t surprise me if she did really well at chess. If she develops a love for the game it’ll probably stick with her for life. It’s a good game.

Sat. will be spent cleaning, for the greats party Sunday. Lil A will be 4 and bro K is now 2. They’re growing up soooo fast. So b-day party Sunday pm but in the am. their Nana and I are taking them to a church luncheon (we’re visitors for this one) with a carnival for the kids. Petting zoo, pony rides, a train ride, etc. We’re looking forward to it, and it’ll keep the kids out of mom’s hair while she’s setting things up. A win/win situation. 😀

Well, I’m just about to do my exercising and then I’m not sure what I’m going to do today. I went out last night for supper with an old classmate I reconnected with on FaceBook who ended up living only a few miles from me. I have to admit I was really nervous about it and as it got closer and closer to the time I was supposed to leave, I was really scared. I thought “what if I don’t like her” to “how will I get out of there” but I had a great time. I can’t even tell you how much fun I had. We sat and talked for 2 hours before we even ordered our food. The time flew by and I can’t wait to get together with her again.

Paul and Toby drained our pool the other night and we’ve lucked out and had very dry weather so it’s already nice and dry. I’d like to get it folded up and inside tonight and we can do the “fall” stuff in the yard. I have flowers to chop off and stuff to put away and scarecrows and bales to get out. I love fall. It’s also been such a busy June and July for us on the weekends and this is the second weekend in a row that we don’t have plans. I’d like to go to the swappers meet tomorrow and look for new football jersey’s for Bailey and Trinity. They will NOT wear Farve!!! So we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

We have one more weigh in before our 2 week break before another long 12 week one starts. Vicki has a whole bunch of equipment to work out on and she’s going to set it all up so we can work out together 2 or 3 times a week. It’s either that or I need to join a gym or something because this last 25 pounds is NOT going to just melt off. I’ve been pretty discouraged with this challenge. I know I’ve lost almost 8 pounds and that is a pound a week but…….I’d like to lose 2 pounds a week. That’s a little more rewarding.

Have a great weekend everyone no matter what you have up your sleeve.

Bailey isn’t into football one single bit right now so he only came up with Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian, but he said you don’t have to buy him one at all.
