Pull Up A Seat

Yep, it’s that time again… School is starting!! I remember as a kid, I was excited about it at the same time I dreaded it. I loved going back and seeing friends, breaking out new supplies, meeting a new teacher and learning new stuff. But I also dreaded giving up my days of summer freedom to lounge around and read a book all day, or spend the day playing in the pool or riding my bike.

But one thing I do remember? Classrooms were a great place to catch up with all your friends, even if it did drive the teachers crazy!! So here’s your one and only chance – in THIS classroom, we encourage you to talk to each other!

Oh man – I swear I left a comment last night – I suppose it’s too late to get it back now.

I feel like every summer flies by, and as much as I do love Fall I don’t really welcome this time with open arms. It’s just hard for me, but I’ll get over it.

We have open house tonight, and I am anxious to see how this turns out. We’re doing a mock schedule. 7 minutes with each teacher, 5 minutes to get tot he next class. Bailey’s classes are all right by each other so he will not need 5 minutes. I already told him, do not even go into the hall if you don’t need to. He’s a chatter box!

Our weekend was nice, and relaxing. 🙂

We had a pretty good weekend. It was productive if nothing else. I know what you mean Nikki about wanting Fall but thinking “where did the summer go.” I welcome Fall. I love this time of the year but I miss seeing the pool already. Paul weed whacked Sat while I mowed. Man, we were just aching Sat night but the yard looks really good. I have a bit of transplanting to do and there are a couple of things I want to start putting away and moving a few flowers around. Nothing big but sometimes it seems it’s the little things that never get done. Anyway…

Our weigh in is tomorrow this week and it’s our last night and the next one starts Sept 12. I’ve SOOO enjoyed not having it on Monday. It was actually really nice to have the weekend and not be working on that weigh in on Mon. I’ve held my own again this week but I don’t expect to have lost more than a few ounces and maybe a pound. It’s a lot harder now for it to come off. But I’ve mowed, ridden my bike and I’ve started this sit up thing with Laura, one of her friends and Nikki and it’s been good motivation for me because when I’m doing the sit ups, I end up doing a lot more and I’ve also been on my exercise ball a lot all week so I’ve really been working my muscles. I can zip up an really nice old pair of Levi’s that I haven’t worn in a long time and I can REALLY zip them up. I can’t breathe but I can get them on. That’s what I go more by than just what the scale says. That’s if I’ve really tried. I’d be lying if I said I tried my very hardest for this one. I just couldn’t seem to “get into” this one as much. I hope I feel different after this two weeks off.

It’s a gorgeous day here today. The weathermen last night said it was going to rain today and it’s just beautiful. I have a to put away a lot of “summer bird-feeders” and get some of the suet racks up again and stuff. So many of the birds have gone already. I haven’t seen an oriole in a while but I still have a few hummingbirds so I’ll keep the nectar full.

Have a great day everyone and enjoy it.

Not sure how I screwed up my comment last night. Not that it was worthy of the Library of Congress or anything!

The weekend for me was very unproductive, except that I got some school shopping done. Actually, the girls and I made 10 stops between about 5pm and 11pm Saturday. I was looking for dresses and coats for the girls, but I didn’t end up buying either of those. I did get some cute outfits and I did find some homeschooling workbooks. Miss A wandered off and got “lost” in JCPenney, and later got a nosebleed at Barnes & Noble, so we had a few mini-dramas, but all in all, a productive if exhausting trip.

So about a half hour ago I noticed a few ants in my workspace (which is in my bedroom). I went for the Terro and set a trap on my work table. So now the disgusting little creatures are crawling on my computer. Ugh! Good thing Terro works well, or I would be heading for the looney bin about now.

This week my goal is to get more disciplined. It is our first full week of serious school, plus I have a lot to accomplish for work, so I need to pick up the pace. Getting over my addiction to a new internet site is the first step! You know, my life would be a lot easier if I could just be a workaholic instead of a webaholic.

    Have a great week, everyone!

It’s hard to believe that summer is over! I’m glad Hunter’s not old enough to go to school. That will be a hard day for me I’m sure. He’s 3 1/2 now, and he doesn’t need 2 yrs of pre-school. So he will be going next year. He talks about going now and he gets so excited. The only benefit of him going 2 yrs would be the social interaction. He doesn’t play with many kids. But we will wait until next yr.

This weeked is Red Rooster Days in Dassel. Jason has to patrol on Saturday during the parade. Maybe i’ll go catch some garage sales..who knows. I seen that they’re having a car show I think on sunday. Gonna be a nice weekend! Not too hot.

Since Friday I’ve been getting real bad headaches. I’m sure its sinuses. Today I woke up with one right on my left eye. Hurts really bad! I just took a migraine pill and trying to relax before work this afternoon. I popped in a movie for Hunter so I could lay down. He’s playing with toys and watching the movie.

Have a good week everyone 😀

I’ll never forget Bailey’s 1st day of preschool. I spent the whole time sobbing to one of my girlfriends!!! LOL I still, to this day, cry every single year. It hasn’t gotten any easier! This year is a huge step in him growing up, it’s been hard but I know he’ll be more than fine. I think it’s harder on us “one child” parents. Good luck! lol

I still feel like Miss A being in KG is surreal. I leave her there and I’m looking in the classroom, watching her from behind, unsure if she’ll rise to the occasion. But she is doing great so far, from what I can tell.

      • Laura says:

I cried too, first day of preschool, and first day of Kg. I think I might have gotten a little misty over First Grade, too.

Funny thing, though… the kids don’t miss US. Not one single bit. They’re so busy being involved with their new friends and the new schedule, they don’t worry about us at all. Means we did our job right.

I did dang near nothing this weekend. This week, I’m Scout-heavy. Today (and tomorrow by the looks of it), I’m loading up our new Scout Software which tracks all our members, leaders, advancement, and all kinds of other stuff. I’m entering all that data in. I’ve been at it since about 9 this morning, and I’m still working on it. It’s tedious work, which isn’t relieved by the fact that I keep taking “breaks” and surfing the ‘net. All in all, though, I’ve been good about it, and saving my surfing for half or hour breaks in the inputting. It’s eye-crossing work.

Tomorrow, I have to go to Josh’s school to do “boy talks” which will hopefully inspire boys to want to join the pack. And then Thursday evening is our Recruiting Night, where we actually sign the kids up. And that’s when I try and convince another parent to be the Tiger Cub Leader. ‘Cause I’M not doing it again this year.

Toss in there some house cleaning, organizing, cooking, and about bazillion damn situps (HOW did I get myself into this?), and I’m a busy girl this week.
