Roman Polanski inspired by SKL

SKL wrote this one day last week and it just got hidden in the talk of the day but after I went back and re-read it, it made me want to talk more about it.

Do you young people even know who he is? When I think of this guy, my mind goes to Sharon Tate who he was married to at the time of her murder. She was 8 and a half months pregnant when the Charles Manson gang murdered her. BRUTALLY. She was so beautiful.

Here is a little about the story.

I will reserve my remarks and opinion for the comment box.

SKL writes:

Roman Polanski. I saw a news title saying he’s apologized for drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977, a crime for which he has still not served his sentence. Since then he continues to work and get rich and famous. He even won an Oscar for work done while hiding away from his due consequences.

In the news story they talk about a new documentary that’s been made about him, in which he states that the girl he raped was victimized twice – by him and by the media. (So he’s only half to blame, I guess?) The news story says he got a standing ovation when he went on the stage at the Zurich film festival where this was shown.

This just boggles my mind and I have so many questions.

1) Why would France encourage and support the art of a fugitive child rapist?
2) Why would anyone want to see a movie he made by a fugitive child rapist?
3) Why would anyone vote for the product of a fugitive child rapist to win an award?
4) Why the continued professinal interest in this man as if he were anything other than a piece of shit?
5) Why would anyone give this man a STANDING OVATION for being a fugitive child rapist ????

I think I need to go puke.”

    These people:
    1. Don’t have a young daughter.
    2. Are more interested in what their adulation to a famous person can do for them!

I think my opinion is pretty obvious! I just feel that supporting this guy is akin to saying that raping 13-year-olds is no big deal. I mean, let him serve his sentence like everyone else, and then pick himself up and move on. After that, I don’t care what he does (within the law). But why doesn’t he need to be accountable? And why do his fans consider it such a tragedy that his disrespect for the law forced him to get rich somewhere other than the USA?

Why do we allow certain people to get away with heinous crimes (while others are punished)? This guy isn’t the only one. Does a big segment of society have a screw loose?

I will admit to not knowing many of the details of this case, as I was pretty young when it happened. I quick IMDB’d him and found that I’ve only seen one of his movies, and that one was when I was in High School, in class, and under duress. (It was “Tess”, based on “Tess of the Durbervilles, which I absolutely hated)

I have no answer for why people idolize this guy. My theory, though, is that Hollywood isn’t called “Hollyweird” for nothing. People there seem to have a very skewed view on life. What’s normal and ok for us regular people – things like church, staying married, not letting our kids listen to/watch/wear just anything – is completely foreign, and therefore trite, wrong, or even oppressive in their world.

So someone like Polanski, they see as a “tortured artist” and “banished by a hostile society”, instead of the worm-eating dirtbag that he really is.

I just hope that the idea of karma, Divine Justice, etc., holds true in the end, and that he gets what is truly his to have.

I just . . . I hate to be redundant, but . . . it’s not like he’s being picked on for just being “a little bit funny” (I’m on an Elton John kick). I mean, Trinity isn’t much younger than this guy’s rape victim was. How do people twist that into him being a “tortured artist”? How is enforcing rape laws being a “hostile society”? Like MSSC said, is it possible that these people really don’t realize what a 13yo girl is??

Kinda makes me want to boycott everyone who ever openly supported Polanski since he fled the USA.

I’m not saying they’re right. I’m saying that’s how warped their view of the world is.

Seriously, look at how they live. They idolized Michael Jackson, and he was just as bad! he should have been in jail a hundred times over, and yet he was allowed to have, what, three children?

Listen to the music that comes from them. Watch the bulk of the trash that’s on TV, in movies, etc. Polanski just fits in with what they think is ok. And it’s ok as long as he’s not doing it in the name of religion… THEN they might throw the book at him.

As far as I’m concerned, they should all be rounded up and stuck somewhere like Alcatraz. With the fathers of the children they harmed. After those fathers have been through a year-long training with the Navy SEALS.

OMG!! My ears are bleeding thinking of Trinity and this kind of situation! I’d be in jail for sure if anything like this ever happened to her or mine.

I was also very young when this went on but I was such a movie and reading buff that I knew about “him” from other things. Like Sharon Tate. When I was reading Helter Skelter and then later she was in one of my favorite movies, Valley of the Dolls and naturally everyone was also talking about Polanski.

I think he’s nothing more than a pedophile and rapist and I really REALLY don’t understand how being a movie director can have all these countries defending you and hiding you. What’s so great about him? Rosemary’s Baby is a classic movie and I do remember watching that as a child. Mia Farrow was chilling in it but still, so freaking what. Do you think Ron Howard or Steven Spielberg would get away with something atrocious as this?

I feel really sorry for the poor girl. If you do a quick check on her, it sounds like her mother pushed her to do all those modeling jobs with him and kept taking her back. Whoever wrote the article I read compared her to Brooke Shields mother. Just a very pushy stage mother but if you google her, you see a bunch of shots with her giving a creepy smile in front of one of Polanski’s movie posters on a red carpet somewhere. Now who’d do that and then say she just wants this all to be over and have people stop bringing it up. I’ll be you he really messed her head up. What an asshole!

Here is more of her story and her pictures on google.

I’d also like to add that when I see her cute little 13 year old face it breaks my heart.

  6. Nikki says:

I don’t understand it, and never will. It makes me sick, beyond belief. 😦 I don’t know what else to say.

  7. Karen Joy says:

This leaves me speachless…crazy crazy world!
