We just got an electric one from my mom’s basement. We will definitely use it when it gets colder
We have a gas fireplace. We haven’t used it in at least 10 years.
No 😦
We have an electric one but its ugly and doesnt throw much heat.It has 70’s orange rocks piled in front.blech!I want to tear it out and put in a new one, maybe electric again just nicer and redo the stone.Yet another project in this house.
We’ve got a gorgeous wood burning fireplace. We use it quite a bit in winter, and it’s got a Heatilator, so it warms this place up like crazy. We even used it several years ago when a blizzard/ice storm blew through here and knocked out our power for two days. Kept us at a balmy 55 degrees, gave us light, and allowed us to have hot dinners. If I can help it, I will never live in a house without a wood-burning fireplace again. They’re kind of high maintenance, but oh, so nice to have in an emergency.
I wish I had one! I don’t think I’ve actually EVER sat beside a real-life working fireplace.
Really? There’s nothing like it. They’re a lot of work though.
I wish~I wish~I wish! We do plan on getting an electric one before winter comes.
We have a gas fireplace and we use it during the winter all the time. Ours has a remote to start it which I love! I can grab my coffee in the morning, push a button and BAM, the fireplace is going and warming up the house nicely.
We used to have a “real” one in our old house and we had a fire in it everyday in the winter. I missed it so much when we moved. We got an electric one last spring so this will be our first winter with it. The nice thing about this is you can set the heat or not have heat at all, just the flame and I have that going all the time. We may have to find another spot for it though. It’s so close to our thermostat that the furnace doesn’t come on and the living room gets too hot and the rest of the house is freezing. I just love the look of it.
that happens in our house, too. We get the Great Room up to some ridiculous temp, you’re sitting in there all snuggly warm in shorts. Then you go into another room and an icicle grows on your nose… Still, I love my fireplace!
