Hey all, I’m done with the recipes. For now that is. I’ve spent almost a week full time doing this and there are things I wished I’d have done different but it was such a big job that once I realized I’d like to change something, it was too late.
I went from beginning to now. I thought I “should have” gone from now to then but then I thought everyone is going to have to scroll anyway unless they know what they’re looking for so that didn’t really matter. If you know the name of something there is a search box. I’ve moved the search box from the bottom right hand side to right under the “what people are talking about” column.
What I’m going to start in a few weeks is categorizing them. I really wish WordPress would allow me to put “folders” all under one tab but it doesn’t look possible and I don’t want the header to full too sloppy so I’ll think how I want to do it and please, if any of you have any suggestions, I’m open to your thoughts. Right now though, my head hurts from this. I’m very happy I’m done.
Great job Joy!! That’s a TON of recipes. Took the computer awhile to load them all.
Congratulations! You are this close to inspiring me to learn how to cook, ha ha!
Just that close??? LOL!!
My Sunday School class was trying to agree on a service project, and not surprisingly, one of the women said, “we could bake for the Haiti bake sale – that would be real easy for all of us.” I kept quiet, but you know what I was thinking. Luckily they decided on a different project.
You could bake… mixes are ridiculously easy, and surprisingly tasty.
I don’t want to! Besides, I don’t have time. We’re hardly ever home except when I’m working or sleeping.
SWEET!!!!! Thanks for taking the time to do this! I know it was a big job!
Awesome Joy!
Hokey smokes!!
Great job!
Now to organize. Do you know we have 223 pages of posts I had to go through? *Whey* I’m not happy with the way it looks. It’s too much so now to make pages for categories. But thanks. It was a lot of work.
Joy, is there a way that you could put the title of the recipes on one page and then we were able to click on them to see the individual recipe? Just a thought. i know you’re doing tons of work! We really do appreciate it 🙂
Let me check. That’s a good idea.
Joy, WordPress should be giving you pulldown menu’s in Recipes. Sometimes they call it parent wit subparent. Then you can categorize for instant soup recipes and pasta recipes. Just a thought. this can be done under the header but also in a widget in the side menu.
Anyway, you did a heck of a job. Thanks so much for doing this for us!
Thanks Ellen. I spent a week full time doing this so I’ll check it out later. My brain is much. But I do know I want to change it. I don’t want them in a widget form.
I can’t seem to find a pull down menu anywhere on the recipe page. The only thing in the Page “parent” thing are setting a “parent” and recipe’s isn’t there. Just Us Girls. Come Meet Us and Come Sit A Spell. I’ll do more research tomorrow.
Jenny has a good idea, but could it be done with both a title and photo together? For some people, that would be helpful.
This is awesome! I’m not sure where I came across your blog, but I read it every day and enjoy all the info, especially the recipes. Thanks so much!
I too live in Minnesota and can relate to so many of the posts. Keep making me smile!
Thank you Karen for saying something. I wish you would more often. WELCOME.
I. LOVE. IT. You did an AWESOME job, Joy! Go have a Miller Lite on me!!!
and I’m going to try that Peppered Shrimp Scampi one day soon. It may be a pain in the ass to have put the oldest recipes first, but think of all the old stuff that is now new again! So much stuff that we forgot was up here, or never saw. The silver lining.
I do like the idea of categories, but I’m the LAST one to rush you on it. I think it’s awesome that you did this. Thank you.
