I’ve never been so happy to see Friday come, as I am right now! Hopefully, as you are reading this we’re either on our way to Duluth, or already there. Unless, of course you’re reading this Thursday night, then I will be anxiously waiting for the morning! ๐Ÿ™‚ We’re going to a haunted ship, the William A. Irvin, Friday night. Hiking and sight seeing most of Saturday, which is what all 3 of us are mostly excited about. Jason and I were talking last night, dreaming really, about how fun it’d be to have a little cottage up north, just to get away, any given weekend! Maybe, when retirement comes….haha Yeah, right! It’s fun to dream though!

So, how was your week? Any fun weekend plans?!

I suppose as I write this comment you are anxiously awaiting your trip. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Its really cooled off here. Mid 40s at night and mid 60s during the day. Me and the kids are going hiking this weekend!

I just sat down for the first time in a very long time! Right now, I just want to sit and watch the World series for a bit and go to bed! ๐Ÿ™‚ Have fun hiking!

You will have so much fun and I’m really jealous you’re going! Don’t forget your camera and don’t forget to take pic’s along the way ๐Ÿ™‚ I think I read somewhere that you made cheeseburger soup for Saturday and that sounded so good I”m making it tomorrow! Safe travels!

    • Nikki says:

I did! Jason had the great idea (don’t tell him I said that) to make a soup (Cheeseburger being his fav) to put in the crock pot, Saturday while we’re out. Thanks! One of these years, we’ll have to have the whole family vacation up there!

      Enjoy your soup! ๐Ÿ™‚

After reading this I want that soup tonight but alas, I have no Velveeta ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I am nervously awaiting Friday night (It’s Thurs now), because our Pack has an overnight. Steve is going, and we’re really pushing Josh to go, too. He’s been to two other group overnights – sleepover parties with friends – where he made it the entire night. But then a couple weeks ago, he tried staying at a friend’s house and got homesick, so I had to go pick him up at 10:30 at night. (oh, listen, there’s our mule, winding up again. He sounds like a Civil Service siren. Hilarious) And now he’s saying that he doesn’t want to go tomorrow night, even though Steve is going, because he doesn’t want to miss me. On the other hand, I’m kinda pushing it, because he’s 8, and it’s about time he gets used to sleeping one night away from home, so he can enjoy the sleepovers that are going to become more frequent… AND so I can have ONE NIGHT ALL BY MYSELF!!!!! I haven’t had one of those since…. um….. geez….. I can’t remember. So, fingers crossed.

Saturday morning is our last Football Cleanup of the year. Oh, yeah, Friday night is also the last home Football Game of the year. I will go, I will scream and cheer and eat pizza that’s gone cold during the walk from the concession stand to my seat, I will freeze my butt off, and I will have a blast. And then I will horribly miss it until NEXT year.

Sunday is wreath-making day. Our school has a Fall/Christmas Bazaar in November. All craft stuff. And we get together often to make stuff to sell at it. I can’t be at the actual event to help out – I’ll be out of town – so I’m trying to make as many of the craft days as I can. Last weekend I learned how to make jewelry. Turns out I’m pretty good at it! This week, it’s wreaths. Next week is something else, I don’t remember what…

    And laundry. gak. always laundry.

Maybe this is just one of those times that you have to tell Josh that this is just one of those things in life you just have to do. It’s not like you’re sending him out of town alone not knowing a soul. Steve will be there and I do think you’re right. He’s old enough to stay. Tell him missing you is fine but think how happy you’ll both be when he gets home. Tell him you’ll make him a special welcome home cake. He really should go. It would be so good for him. It’s his pack. He’s one of them and should be there. It’s like a ball team. You shouldn’t ever just not go.

Besides, a night alone is SO totally AWESOME.

I learned make earrings a few years ago,and they turn out great. Both Nee and I really enjoy making wreaths, it’s so much fun to pick out the flowers, etc., and then put it all together. You’ll have a great time, I’m sure of it!

PS… Nikki… find the money and buy that cabin. My parents talked for years and years and years and years about buying a place somewhere around Hayward, WI. And for those same years, they procrastinated, while going up there every… single… year, and paying rent. OH how I wish they had bought when I was little. OH how I wish that we had a place up there. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. You seem a lot like me, and I think it would be one of your great regrets if you didn’t do it. (and right now? The housing marked is for CRAP!!! You can probably get something cheap!)

I am going to try and get some much needed rest this weekend! I feel like I have been burning the candle at both ends lately. My youngest has a sleepover Saturday night so I will pretty much have the night to myself, yay!

  6. SKL says:

OK, so this week started out pretty strong work-wise. I had to bust my butt to fix a problem I’d created. Once I finished that, I started putzing. The partners flew to the Left Coast early Wednesday and will be returning sometime in the next 12 hours – I don’t know exactly when. Since we all have to be somewhere at 6pm Friday, I’m assuming they are taking the redeye back. So anyhoo, I really should stay up tonight to finish stuff that I was supposed to finish on Wednesday. But I am not feeling well, so I should probably get a nap first. Of course, you know how that goes, so we’ll see how well I can pull this off . . . .

My weekend has been pretty much laid out for me. A Divali party with the city officials Friday evening, then a Divali party with business associates on Saturday evening. (That’s all my usual free time for the whole weekend.) There is one other thing I need to do, though. I promised to pick up a gift card to a store that is a bit out of the way. I’m supposed to bring it to Sunday School. So I’m not sure how I’ll work this out. Oh, another thing – I need to replace my Crackberry. It keeps bombing. Not that I really use it all that much, but it should work if I need it.

Weather here has been cold and rainy. A good week to just stay home in the evenings.

It seems like I should have something else to talk about, but I can’t think of it right now. So, everyone have a great weekend!

  7. Joy says:

We have a pretty quiet weekend coming up. I think anyway. I like it this way. I don’t like weekends that are too full. Depending on how cold it is in the morning, I wouldn’t mind checking out the Swappers Meet one more time. I may get some great deals on books but we’ll see how cold it is.

    How boring am I???

    • Laura says:

oh, and the bird, who is shrieking and singing along with the loud music! heeheehee.

    • Joy says:

WAY TO GO!!!!! Can we hear a WOOHOO???????? Take the undies off!!!!!

    • Laura says:

Oh, well. this is what I get for being cocky. At 9:30, I got The Call. Steve tried and tried and tried, but he couldn’t convince Josh to stay. In Josh’s defense, only one of his friends ended up staying over, and he was a first-grader. Josh had planned to stay when all his second-grade friends were there, but then, one by one, they all left the football game, even before the sleepover started.

But I did get an hour of dancing around the house in.
