Above is our group pic from the 5-K we all did last Saturday. From the left in a circle is: Toby, Jason, Jenny, Vicki, Kathy, Sue, Nikki, Trinity, Hunter, Bailey. We did really well and had a good time.
It’s finally Friday! Everyone had a good week, I hope. Not much happenin’ around my neck of the woods this weekend. We do have a surprise birthday party we were invited to on Saturday. It’s for a good friend of mine’s husband. We should go, I’m just not sure if we will or not. I do know that we are winterizing the house this weekend. Covering up most of the windows, cleaning up the garage and around the house. You know, the fun stuff life has to offer! ๐
So, what’s shaking aroundย your neck of the woods?
WE LOOKED AWESOME!!!!!! ๐
Yes we did!!!!!
You guys really did look great. I ordered a bunch of those pictures and I hope they come today.
Well, I have some work to get done so that I can have a relaxed weekend. The girls and I are going to Great Wolf Lodge for a get-together with adoptive families. My sister, whose birthday is Friday, is coming with us. This is pretty much the only weekend of the year that I have away from my business partners, so hopefully I will make the most of it.
So Friday, I plan to pick up the girls from school and drive out to my parents’ house. The girls want to see the folks’ dog, Cujo. Then I will pick up my sister, and if my brother is still in the hospital, we’ll go see him before heading back east to the resort. We’ll grab dinner somewhere along the way.
Saturday and Sunday, there are some group activities planned, with the intervening time spent at the water park or the little room where they have kiddy computers, or just putzing in the hotel room. I will then drop my sister off, and if we’re lucky, we’ll have time to buy some groceries before heading back home. Then back to work.
The Christmas preparations are already beginning at the girls’ school, and presumably at Sunday School. I should have already started working on my online shopping. I wonder if it is too optimistic to try to get the girls to address some of the Christmas card envelopes? I did buy the girls’ Christmas dresses.
Another thing we need to do is plan a trip to one of our favorite charities, to hand over a bag of donations and work on a volunteer project. I believe this will happen in mid-November. I also have to do some professional training and set up a car appointment and an eye appointment for Miss A. Anything else I’m forgetting? The more I get done before Thanksgiving, the better, because things get crazy after that.
Family drama continues, but I do not want to get into details, so I’ll leave it at that.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Have a great weekend. It sounds fun. Christmas??? I’ve hardly thought about it. Oy!!!!
Basketball started tonight!!!!! Ok, I really didn’t need that many exclamation points! LOL! We ended up with 11 girls and one of them is ‘new’ so it should be a good season. We’re trying to get tourneys figured out and practice times, but it should be all right ๐ Friday night our HS football team is playing for the chance to go to state! First time in a LONG time so we are contemplating going, but it’s in a town about an hour away. (Neutral site stuff) We’ll see. Saturday is my niece and nephew’s birthday party and Sunday is 4-H. The kids don’t have school on Monday because of conferences and I have to stay home from work tomorrow so it’s a 5 day weekend for me ๐ Those days are coming to an end quickly though!!!!
Way to go Kimball! Just to play for State is HUGE accomplishment. Good luck to them! I think you should go! Our HS was awful this year, to say the least! I’d say, enjoy it while you can!
We decided to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Cubs!!!! Layers layers layers is what it’s all about tonight!!! Better dig out the boots too ๐
We lost in OT ๐ฆ They were playing for the section title which would have led them to quarter finals for state. They led most of the game but 2 crucial decisions lost us the game. They played their hearts out though and that’s all you can ask. The kids had a blast and we stayed warmer than anticipated!
Well, we’ve got two things going on this weekend. Josh got himself grounded from all things with a screen – tv, computer, video games – for being a general … er… stinker… at school and at home. It came to a head on Wednesday when I picked him up and talked with his teacher. So now he’s working hard not to lose his toys, as well, and be stuck doing nothing but reading (which, ironically, I would KILL for a weekend where I was allowed to do NOTHING but read….).
He will, however, unless he’s a complete hoodlum, be allowed to go to our Den Meeting on Saturday morning. It’s usually on Tuesday evenings, but this one is all about sports, and learning to play ball games, and tumbling, so I scheduled it at the community center instead. After that, who knows?
He was supposed to make dinner tonight, but never gave me his ingredient list; he said he wants to make dinner tomorrow night… I have no ingredient list. He’s gonna be surprised when I tell him that I’M makin’ dinner again tomorrow! I so love that he loves to cook. But he’s GOT to learn to plan! (and I must learn patience with him)
Otherwise, the weekend wraps up with a Leader’s Meeting on Sunday Evening, where I get to tell the leaders that our kids totally ROCKED the popcorn sale… surpassing last year by *about* $7K!!
And then it’s Monday again.
Don’t forget to switch your clocks this weekend! I plan to tie Josh to his bed so I can officially get my extra hour of sleep.
They beat last year by $7,000?!!!! That’s awesome!!!!!
I know!! I’m so proud of them!! I set a very modest goal for them this year, because the last couple of years had been declining. That, combined with the economy, well, I just wasn’t very optimistic. And then my den’s totals came in, and my den ALONE was more than HALF of our goal!!! We had two sellers in the pack who did $1000 or more, and one of them topped $2000. I can’t wait for the Pack Meeting. One of the incentives they had was that the highest seller could choose the color for one of the leaders’ hair. Well, we had three leaders step up and offer their heads. So we’re thinkin… let all THREE boys choose!! I’m hoping it will be great fun.
That’s great about the popcorn sales. Way to go. Good luck with the grounding. Sometimes that’s harder on us than it is on them.
Thanks. I’m gonna need it. He blew it at school today… so he’s doing nothing but reading for the weekend. And he can’t even read his Lego magazines, because those count as Legos!!! Oh, it’s gonna be a fun weekend……………
Happy Friday all. I still don’t feel all the way up to par. It’s like I have a faucet in my head and every now and then a little elf goes and turns it on and I’m just “oozy.” My ears, eyes and nose. It’s awful because then I get crusted up and then you start picking……….I’m pretty sure I have a sty in my left eye but it’s above my eyelid and I can’t see it or get at it in any way so I’m going to have to let it take it’s course. It’s super SUPER sore. I’m so glad and lucky that they aren’t contagious.
Toby and Paul started working on the “trim” along the bottom of my living room floors last night and Toby patched that big ugly hole behind the fireplace and I’m very excited to get my trim up. Is it even called trim? Anyway, it’s all white and I’m very excited.
We don’t have much planned for the weekend. It was supposed to be really ishy but now it’s supposed to be really nice so depending on things, I may try and get some lights outside. Sunday we are going to Vicki’s for Jenny’s birthday AND so everyone can see her new kitchen and I’m making meatballs. Screw the weight loss challenge!!! I have a great new recipe so I’ll put it on here after I make them.
Have a good weekend all.
Joy if its a sty on your eye, put a hot wash cloth or something warm on it. That will bring it to a head, and eventually pop. Yes those hurt and make your eye swollen. Try heat!!!
What kind of medicine Nikki? I will eat some of them b-e-l-i-e-v-e me. You should come out and taste them yourself and you can “really” see the new living room. We have a bye and everything.
It’s called Stye. I know I got it at Walmart. That was many years ago, though, but I’m sure they still carry it.
I’m not sure what’s going on Sunday. The truck has to be looked at before I drive anywhere. We’ll see! ๐
Sty’s hurt like hell! Hot cloth over it should help. I used to get them a lot, and I’d have to have actual medicine for them, which you can get OTC.
I expect to hear that you ATE some of those meatballs! LOL YOU always make such great food for parties and never eat any of it. You’ve done very well, over all…splurge and enjoy yourself. ๐
This week has been kinda crappy. I ended up with a horrible cold…again! Yesterday at work I had 3 hrs of massage scheduled. Well guess what? Only my last appt showed up! So I sat there from 1:45-4:15 doing nothing, until my 4:15 came. Why do people do this? Atleast call!
Tomorrow I think we’re going to Maple Grove to check out all the little shops around town. That’s a pretty town. I was at mom’s house and we were trying to figure out a menu for Sunday. The only reason she’s celebrating my b-day is so people can see her new kitchen!! LOL it’s true ๐ She’s gonna be making sloppy joes, veggies & dip, chips..etc. I’m making a taco dip.
Maybe I’ll have Jason finish putting the Christmas lights on the house this weekend!
No really, your mom got the new kitchen just for your party. I hope it’s fun!
No. She didn’t get a new kitchen to celebrate her birthday but she’s celebrating the birthday because she just redecorated her kitchen.
This has been a very trying week for me, that is for sure! It started out great with me going on a school field trip for my youngest daughter’s class. We went to a Renaissance Fair. They had a great time. Then the week took a bad turn. My oldest daughter who no longer lives with me broke a tooth and it needs a root canal & a crown. Of course she is currently unemployed so it looks like I will be paying for the $2500 bill. Then a close co-worker of mine husband passed away of a sudden heart attack. We have been trying our best to cover her work for her all week.
On a positive note this Saturday I will be spending the night onboard the tall ship Elissa. This is a scout trip and I am taking my daughter and 1 other girl with me. I think there will be a total of 40 girls onboard. They have to stand watch throughout the night. I am really looking forward to this trip!
That’s a bummer about daughter #1’s tooth but have fun on your weekend getaway.
