Happy Friday, everyone. How was your week? I’m trying to get into the Christmas spirit. I put lights up, and some decorations. I’m just having a hard time feeling the happiness through all the stress it brings. I’ll get there, it’ll just take extra effort this year. We don’t even have our tree up yet. That’s a major break in tradition, and I don’t even care.

Any weekend plans? I have no clue what we’re doing. Most likely, nothing. And that nothing, will be enjoyed. 😉

Have a great weekend, everyone!

We have BIG PLANS for Saturday.

The football team of the high-school where my Mrs. teaches will battling for the STATE AAAA CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE! Both teams have a 13-1 record, so it should be a good game.

I intensely dislike the 4 hour drive it will take to get there though.

I think we’re doing a whole lotta nuthin’ this weekend, which is fine with me. I’m still recovering from our week in Chicago (who knew that three people could generate THIS.MUCH.LAUNDRY???), so I’m fine with not having many plans. I do have to come up with a Den Meeting for Tuesday, but other than that, I think I’m cool. For the first time in a while, I don’t have a grant to worry about – I got the thank you printed out this morning, for tomorrow’s mail. Fshew.

I might do some more christmas shopping – I’m trying to keep it to crafty stuff that I make, or online stuff. I really like going shopping, but with my ADD (Ohh!! Shiny!!) I end up buying 62 things for myself, and only one thing off the list. So this year, I’m trying to restrict myself. Online helps with that…

Otherwise, it’s cleaning and purging, so we can have space for a Christmas Tree. I’m thinking we’ll go shopping for one maybe next weekend. Don’t want to wait too long, but don’t want to get it too early, so it’s terminally dry for Christmas, either.

I’ve had an ups-and-downs kind of week. I got a fair amount of work done, plus made some good progress with getting the place organized. I’m starting to get excited about Christmas as the gifts I ordered are rolling in. However, I’m stressing about a lot of deadlines that are upon us. We took on a bunch of new work and a lot of it is hitting right about now. Each project involves a lot of up-front setup time, so even though they should not be impossible to manage in the long run, the short run is pretty daunting. I kinda like (and need) my sleep. We’re all on kind of a short fuse around here, with the days getting shorter, the deadlines getting closer, and whatever else sets people off. We’ve been under the weather as well, but not sick enough to take time off.

Christmas-wise, I still haven’t brought up the kid stuff from the basement. (I don’t do the grown-up decorations.) Maybe this weekend. The girls have their school Christmas show this coming Tuesday already, so I had to buy them each a gift for Santa to give them at that event. I bought a couple of backpacks and some school supplies. I figure with Miss E starting KG later this month, they ought to each have a set of supplies for doing their homework during afterschool care. And the flimsy bags they have been using thus far are falling apart. I think they will like the idea, but the backpacks are not very attractive, so I dressed them up with purply jingle bells and beaded “name tags” that I made today. Aren’t I crafty? Ha ha! Putting it all together, I felt like mom of the year. I also included a little puzzle and a chocolate Santa in each bag. Just in case the idea of a brown-and-orange backpack is not a big thrill in itself. Did I mention that my kids are thoroughly spoiled?

This weekend I have some shopping to do. I need to buy something to make a halo for Miss A’s angel costume (luckily Miss E was an angel for Halloween, ha ha). The girls also need some tights. I also need to look for some gifts for the grown-ups on my Christmas list, and of course go grocery shopping. If weather permits, I’ll take the kids to a park for some bike riding, so Miss E can solidify that skill (hopefully). Now that the kids’ piano lessons have been moved to Mondays, they will need to practice more intensely on Sunday. I went online and found a few Christmas songs in the key of C that Miss E may be able to learn, so I plan to print those out and introduce them on Saturday or Sunday.

I have this feeling I’m forgetting something that I need to buy or do this weekend. What is it? Don’t you hate that feeling?

Oh yeah, tomorrow (Friday) the donation people are supposed to do a pickup. Hopefully I’ll get rid of some stuff and clear a little space. I have little piles of donation stuff here and there, but remembering to get it out on the porch at the right time is the challenge.

Well, I hope everyone has a peaceful and rejuvenating weekend.

I don’t plan on too much this weekend. I’m in a funk. I’ve had some eye/ear thing for the last month and I will say it’s really gotten me down. I went to the doctor 4 weeks ago and he said I had a sty in my eye and had a sinus infection. Alrightythen. Got put on antibiotic but nothing really changed. My ears kept running and my eyes were sometimes so raw and sore that they were light purple. Tues night I started to feel a pain in my ear so I went back to the doc on Wed morning and was told I had eczema on my eyelids and inside my ears. That’s why they kept running and blistering up and bleeding. He asked me how I didn’t go nuts and I said I WAS NUTS. The itching and running and bleeding was awful. So, I’m on another stronger antibiotic, salve, nasal spray and antibiotic ear drops. He also told me to take Benadryl so I’m all doped up too but I am starting to feel better and am finally drying up.

Tomorrow I know Paul wants to fix the Christmas figures that aren’t lighting up and we have a bake sale and meat raffle to go to for a friend going through breast cancer. It’s a benefit for her. Then Sunday Vicki is having her Scentsy party and I can’t wait for that either but they’re small enjoyable things that we have planned so I’m looking forward to both. I want to finish putting lights on my banister today and get some of my Christmas trinkets around. I still have some Thanksgiving stuff on the shelves.

Other than that, I’m doing nuthin today. Nuthin more than I have to anyway. Have a good day and weekend all.

Yikes, that eczema sounds horrible! I hope the new meds regimen clears it up fast!

    • Joy says:

Thanks SKL. I am starting to feel better now. The only thing that hasn’t come back is my left ear is still plugged up and it’s echo-y but the running and blistering has stopped which also means they itch less. Not picking at them was impossible.

      • Karen Joy says:

Its Eczema?Good grief, that sounds just awful! What a long time to go like that.Glad its getting better for ya!

      • Joy says:

It’s that dang sensitive Froom skin I have Karen. I must say I do feel better today. That Benadryl gives me a nice glow going and Paul is bringing home Chinese. I haven’t eaten it since our first weight loss challenge in April. It’s SO bad for you and I can’t wait to indulge.

        • Karen Joy says:

        • Joy says:

          • Karen Joy says:

          • Laura says:

I think I read one of those Pinterest things that said that either olive oil or coconut oil was good for eczema. But under the eyelids! Gracious, woman!! How has that not turned you into an axe murderer??? Lordy, you have my sympathies. I could NOT imagine….
