Did you have stockings growing up? Do you have them now? What kinds of things were left for you to find?!

    I HEART THOSE STOCKINGS!!!!

We’ve got our stockings up. Josh’s is the one that I had growing up – my mom knitted it when I was a baby. And she knew what I’m finding out… that Santa REALLY has to work hard to fill that baby! Knitted stockings s-t-r-e-t-c-h!!

I always found small things, sometimes a book, in there. And always fruit and nuts. There was almost always an apple and an orange, along with a bunch of walnuts and pecans. I was always allowed to open the stockings first thing, as soon as I woke, because it always hung in front of this little cardboard fireplace that my folks set up in my room. OH, how i miss that fireplace! I want one for Josh, but he really doesn’t have any space in his room right now…

hmmm I honestly don’t remember what my stocking looked like growing up! we had tons of candy in the stocking and I’m guessing little gifts. The big gifts sat out beside the stocking

we had stockings and its what Jenny said…candy and small things went in it.

Yes, but when I was a kid, stockings were a nice reasonable (small) size! Nowadays you can’t find a stocking that doesn’t require a whole big pile of stuff to fill it.

To the extent I remember, the stockings usually had little inexpensive things in it, but also sometimes a very nice small thing like a gold necklace. Our stockings were not big enough for books and such.

My kids’ stockings are bigger (though I did try for the smallest decent-looking ones I could find), and like Laura said, it takes some planning to fill them up. This year I will probaby put the DS games in there along with some candy. I really wanted them to share the DS games, but I’m not going to go out and buy a ton of stuff just to fill up the stockings. Maybe I’ll get some help from the aunties on that front.

This year, Nanny brought some very nice stockings for my two girls. But we’re having a third little girl here for Christmas, so I bought three new matching stockings in case she doesn’t have one. I guess we’ll use the Nanny stockings next year.

I didn’t have stockings growing up. Not sure why. We have stockings now b/c my husband had them growing up and he wanted them! I couldn’t find any that I liked, so I bought the plain ones and made my own. Usually I put a movie or Wii game in there with some candy. Nothing crazy b/c they are too big to fill up!

Nope, we didn’t have stockings growing up, neither did my daughter, but she must have felt abused because her girls both got stockings and now the “greats” get them too.
