Pull Up a Cozy Spot

The stockings are empty,
The wrappings are shredded,
We’re tired and we’re beat,
So a nap’s where we’re headed.

Ahh, Christmas. What a lovely day. But if you’re like me, you had a LOT to do, and very little time to do it in. And every time you finished something, you found three more things that needed doing. In fact, as I write this on Christmas Morning, I have my Christmas Cards next to me, waiting to be finished and put in tomorrow’s mail. Just because the sentiment is late doesn’t mean it isn’t genuine!!

So today, we’re following Hobbes’ example. Find the coziest spot you can find, preferably somewhere warm and in a perfect ray of sunshine, and take a load off. It’s naptime.

But before you doze off, tell us… how was your Christmas? Did you have a wonderful time? Were your kids just insane on Christmas Eve, like Josh was? Was Santa good to your family? Share. And then fluff your pillow for a long winter’s nap. You’ve earned it.

I LOVE Christmas, but I’m glad it’s over! My tree even came down this afternoon. I was tired of Hunter and the puppy running into it everytime they played. One time they almost knocked it over. The lights came unplugged and the whole tree turned. So i’m glad to have my space back!

Hunter got lots of toys. He was such a good boy yesterday and today for the holiday. Jason’s big items were a kindle and a new training collar for the dog. I got a new camera. So excited about it! I got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-150Z It takes awesome video and 3D pictures. Can’t wait to use it. The darn battery doesn’t work. Totally bummed me out. Oh and I got more upsetting news too…. We got a new comforter set and I went to lay it out on our bed and something fell out. It was a shriveled up dead mouse!!! GROSS!!! So I threw it in the washer and apparently it was too large. I ended up with water underneath the washer and a tear in the comforter. So I took it over to mom’s house. She sewed it up and washed it. Ugh so between the camera not working, the dead mouse in the comforter & the hole the washer did to it….other than that it was a wonderful Christmas!!!

Jason is off tomorrow. I have to work in the afternoon. I wish I would’ve taken the day off too. Well I hope your Christmas was excellent and I hope you didn’t find any dead animals in your stuff!! 🙂

We had a great Christmas. It started Friday and ended last night! The weather was unbelievable! 40 degrees and sunny with NO SNOW! I went for a run (outside!) Friday, Saturday and Christmas morning b/c I’m pretty sure I’ve never done that before! Just beautiful out, but I am ready for some snow. My kids are too! Everyone behaved and got way too much stuff, but we were all together so that’s all that matters 🙂

We all had a nice day and the weather was so warm that the kids actually had fun playing outside. I loved everything I got. Sue, Toby and Paul got me a Keurig coffee/drink machine and I’m so in love with it. It’s such a nice machine. This morning I’m having Vanilla Biscotti and it’s M-M-Good. Jason and Nikki had 2 photo’s made for me and matted them. One is of the 3 kids on a swing from the cabin we rented a few years ago and the other was the picture of our barn that Jenny took. I’m also in love with those and they are already hanging up. It makes me really miss all my other pictures that are sitting in box upstairs. I think my next order of business is getting some of them re-framed and matted nice like that and get them hung up again. I might bring down my scrap-booking stuff and scrap a couple of them and then mat them.

I’m not sure what we have on the docket for today. I know someone needs to go to the recycling and I want to take down my tree and get my decorations packed away for another year. I’ll leave up some of the lights just because I like the nice glow but I want my house back. I haven’t seen my “real” stuff since Halloween.

We’ve had a wonderful holiday season and it’s been a great month but today, I’m really glad it’s over. I feel old and tired! I’d like Paul to get me a couple of shelves built in a broom closet that I have that I’ve never put a broom in. It’s a nice spot that’s just a wasted little space but I’m not sure if that will get done or not. I guess it’ll depend on how much I nag.

Have a great day and a great week all. Laura, I’m going to break in and steal that bundle of fur. What a doll he is.

Wow, I’m glad I’m not the only one who is glad Christmas is over!

We had a great Christmas. We got everything ready for the guests who arrived Friday afternoon, and then we hung around. Their daughter and my girls became friends almost instantly and had a blast the entire time they were together (except for one moment where there was too much competition going on). After the kids went to bed, I wrapped everything and chatted as long as they could bear to stay up, and then wrapped some more, and then I went to bed at maybe 3am – which is record early for me. I slept on the couch where I could see when the girls got up. They were good and waited until after daylight arrived to come out. I just listened to them for a while. They were very happy with all their presents, especially the DS (Miss A) and the castle (Miss E).

We putzed and let the kids play until about 1pm, when we went to lunch at an Indian restaurant (my kids’ favorite). Then we drove to my sister’s house to help socialize her latest puppies. Then to my parents’ house. We missed seeing my other sister (or maybe she left early to avoid my kids’ germs). And no other kids came. So it wasn’t terribly hectic at my parents’ house, which was good, because my dad had taken a fall a few hours earlier and was not in any condition to enjoy the kids. Other than my youngest sister, all the siblings and their spouses were there, so it was a nice old traditional Christmas in that respect. My kids were hanging out with my mom, who put on a movie for them.

We went home kind of early (before 9pm) because I wanted to get back before the little visitor girl went to bed. Then we watched dance videos and putzed until we were too tired. This morning the guests left shortly after breakfast and I spent the next few hours clearing away the evidence of the holiday and finding homes for all the new things. Now things are almost back to normal, and I feel like I’m breathing with my whole lungs for the furst time in days. Ahh! It was nice, but it’s nice to be done.

This week should be relatively relaxed as far as family stuff goes, because the kids don’t have any lessons, homework, etc. Toward the end of the week we’ll pack up for our vacation. We leave early Saturday morning and return the following Sunday.

Now I’m working, and wishing my computer was not so slow.

I hope everyone has an awesome week!

Our Christmas was very nice, and peaceful. We were all spoiled this Christmas. I got all new dinnerware, mugs, pots and pans, and Paula Deen Cutlery from Paul and Joy. New glasses and a few more mugs from my mom, and clothes, and new “hippie bag”. I had 4 different sets of plates, none of which were complete sets. All we had to drink out of were kids cups! I just don’t spend money on that kind of stuff, so that was very nice. It was fun, but a lot of work changing everything out. It look so nice and organized now, so I’m happy! Today, we were all home and got a lot done. The tree is down, all the decorations are down. I did leave some lights up.

I’m glad it’s all over too. It turned out great, but I’m not sad to see it go. I’ve eaten way too many cookies, more chocolate than really anyone should eat, ever. We have to get back to eating better, and get into open gym after the 1st of the year. We need baseball, that’s the one thing that keeps us all active. Even me.

I’m the odd man out here, I guess… My Christmas stuff doesn’t even start going up until Dec. 1, and then it’s only the “December 1st Box”, which has the CD’s, DVD’s, and some Christmas Books in it. We don’t start *really* decorating until maybe a week or two before Christmas, especially if we’re staying in town, because we always have guests after, and the celebrations go on until at least New Year’s. So our stuff is still up. I still have guests (mom & dad, Jim is on his way), and when they go, I’ll have another bunch coming, and staying until NYEve. And we do Christmas with each group. So the tree will probably come down during the week after New Year’s Day.

We had a pretty low-key Christmas, even though it was kinda Stress City during the two days before. I actually made something off of Pinterest!!! My friend Haley wanted these, so I made them for her. And of course, Murphy showed up. The Mod-Podge caused the ink on one of the pictures to smear (I used my own printer and paper to print them, that’s probably why), so I had to go back, reprint, and come up with an alternate plan. Out came the laminating paper (clear shelf paper). I laminated the fronts, and used the Mod-Podge to glue them to the blocks. But that little setback took up a good hour on a day when I didn’t have an hour to spare!! In the end, it all got done, and it turned out amazing.

Josh got way more stuff than any human being should, I got Smartwool socks. TWO pair!!! Happy girl, me. I also got a gift certificate to Lou Malnatti’s!!! Baby, I’m gonna eat goooo-oooood this week!!!
