I hope everyone had a great week. Ours ended a whole lot colder than it started! Tonight, Jason and I are celebrating our 12 year wedding anniversary. It was on Tuesday. The three of us are going to our favorite Mexican restaurant, El Molcajete. I have no idea how to pronounce it, so I call it, El mocha latte. Hey, it works! We’re also renting Moneyball. We’ve been wanting to see it since we saw the previews. I haven’t heard one bad thing about it.

I started this new online program that has worked great for me, so far.  It’s helped me in so many ways. So, I thought I’d share it. Maybe you already know about, it’s called My Fitness Pal. At first it may just look like a calorie counting site. But it’s so much more than that. You can customize it to count fat, calories, protein, cholesterol, sodium, sugar, etc. You add whatever you eat into your food diary, and if you can’t find in their search engine, you can add it to their database. It’s made me very aware of what I’m eating and how much. I don’t need two pieces of pizza, one is just fine! This keeps me in check, and has taught me to eat better, and drink more water. It has a water meter on it. My biggest problem was, I was eating way too much at night. Now, I have my last “snack” at 7pm, and then I complete my daily food journal. In my head, my eating for the day is over because I can’t enter anything else. It’s kept me honest! And that, for me, is huge when it comes to eating right and working out! It also keeps track of your exercising. It’s set up like Facebook. You have a wall to write on, friends can comment and encourage each other. So, if you are interested, check it out! I’m so glad I did. Today (Friday) will be one full week. I’m anxious to get on that scale! 🙂 I won’t do this forever, but for right now, it’s teaching me a lot. Anyways, have a wonderful weekend! Any fun plans??

Well, this week was my welcome back to reality. I had a couple of big projects in addition to a lot of smaller things I need to catch up on. Tuesday was an all-nighter, Wednesday night I collapsed and slept while I should have been working, and tonight looks like it’s going to be another long one.

We’re getting back to a routine. It feels good. I thought the girls would have a harder time of it, but I was wrong, thankfully. The only sucky thing is that our kitchen sink is still clogged. I have tried a few things and it only seems to be making it worse. I also suspect that my shower is draining into the same pipe and coming up into the sink a little. Good thing I take quick showers. As much as I prefer to do things myself, I think it’s time to call a plumber.

“Real school” is back in session, and Miss E is getting her first taste of serious kindergarten. From the look of her school papers, it seems she is not listening to what she’s supposed to do half of the time. They normally work on a paper by going over it as a class, and since there are no instructions written on the page, listening the whole time is often the only way to get it right. Today I the teacher hung up papers on which the kids had written their new year’s resolutions, and Miss E wrote that she wanted to learn to listen better! I guess it’s been a topic of discussion. She seemed nervous about school for a few days. However, she has gotten good behavior rewards every day so far, so things must be going well overall. Hopefully her transition will be fairly quick.

Weather-wise, it’s been raining the past couple of days. We haven’t seen any snow since we returned from our vacation. Miss E is not happy about that, but I assured her that it will come soon enough and stay plenty long.

Not much really to report, which is a good thing. This weekend will be mostly normal too, hopefully. Nanny comes Saturday and the girls will have their first “swimmers” swim lesson (the class for ages 5+). Then I think we have a professional networking party to go to (with the kids). Hopefully Sunday we’ll be back to church and Sunday School for the first time since before Christmas. Other than that, I will just be working as usual, trying to whittle down my to-do list so I can have a little less stress.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

Nikki, indeed one of the best and personal websites regarding weight loss/control. I installed it and filled in my calories / food for today. Thanks for sharing this great tool! Have a wonderful Friday and long weekend. Mine will start good, I hope, it is my birthday!! 🙂

Oy. I SO hope my weekend is better than my week. Josh had some problems at school – this is a recurring thing, his refusing to do his math. It’s not that he doesn’t “get” it, he knows just fine how it’s done, and can execute the problems just fine. It’s the repetitiveness of it. He doesn’t see the point of doing worksheets where he has to do the same thing over and over and over again. So he messes around, gets bored, makes noises that disrupt the class, etc., and then gets busted for it. And then he has to bring his schoolwork home to be homework, so then he has to face consequences at home. It’s kind of a never-ending circle.

And then yesterday, the storm blew in. Normally, storms don’t bother me, and I’m thrilled to have snow. Ok, I AM thrilled that we have snow. It’s about time. But with the snow came a leak in our roof. And now the roofing company (who hasn’t seen it yet; they re-roofed us in Oct of 2010) is saying that it’s probably snow blowing in through the ridge vent. So the damage that’s been done, it sounds already like they’re going to refuse to fix it under the terms of the warranty. But they’ll be happy to fix it for us for a fee!! And it’s not just paint and drywall. It’s cedar planks that are now water marked and probably rotting. Seems to me, if you have a vent on the roof of a house, you’d better make darned sure that it’s not going to leak!! And on top of it, the leaked water stinks. So the entire room stinks. gak.

Finally, our water softener guy came to check the system for me, and discovered that one of the three tanks that we have blew a bladder. Not a HUGE deal, but another $80 out the door, if we have to buy a new one. He’s got several used ones in his shop, so I’m hoping that one of those will fit, and we’ll get off easy.

Now, today, we have a late start, thanks to the weather, and Josh got up on his own already, and is complaining about a stomach ache.

MAN, I hope the weekend goes better!! Josh has a wrestling meet on Sunday, and those are always fun, so maybe by then, we’ll have had some improvement.

HAPPY DANCE!!! The roof guy came today, and the problem is under warranty!!! OH, such a relief! Now, if the Softener guy has tanks that fit our system, we’ll get them for cheap, ’cause they’ll be used. Fingers crossed…

Snow came to our neck of the woods in the middle of the night. (I know this because I was up working by my window.) The roads are yucky today. Hooray for Winter! I hope it doesn’t stop us from getting a plumber to come.

Our kids are out of school Thursday, Friday and Monday (Saturday and Sunday are givens). They are having a blast (so far) with their FIVE DAY WEEKEND!

Yesterday afternoon I had TEN KIDS from the neighborhood in our back yard. I tell ya, I am getting a ton of milage out of that hay fort, rope swing thing! If you saw the video on my Facebook page of our grandson just imagine all those kids doing the same thing! Most of the kids have never seen anything like that and their yards are much smaller (we have a corner lot). One of the kids remarked that we have an “awesome back yard!”

But I’m a bit worn out from all their fun. Lol

My darn monitor died on me this morning, so I’ve been without a computer. I was able to go online on our PlayStation, but typing is very slow and time consuming. Jason brought a monitor home from work. It’s weird to be on such a OLD monitor. Dinosaur age! But it works, so now we know without a doubt it is our monitor and we’ll find one over the weekend.

So, I weighed myself this morning. One full week and the scale said I lost 6 lbs. I was shocked, couldn’t believe it. I ended up having to pick Bailey up from school, he threw up. I had to go to the store to pick him up some ginger ale, and soup. I thought I should pick up a new battery for my scale, I was still not really believing it. I hopped back on it and I had really lost 5.2 lbs, which is still totally awesome! This program works! I’m sticking to it!

Hope everyone had a good Friday!

Nikki,is that weightloss site ever neat.I was just looking it over, they have alot there to help.Ill check it out more tomorrow when I have time.Good for you losing 5.2 is great!

      • Nikki says:

It’s very neat!!! And you know what, I didn’t work out hard. I’ll be the first to admit, I hate working out hard. I hate the treadmill, hate my elliptical, absolutely HATE any kind of aerobic exercise. That’s why I never stick to it. I really, honestly love Pilates. I’ve done it 5 days in a row now, and I find that when I wake up, my body almost craves it. One week, and I “feel” leaner. I told myself before I got on the scale, that the number didn’t matter. I felt good, and that is what’s most important. If you decide to join up, look me up! BisonMamma99 🙂
