When you leave a room, do you turn the lights off behind you or keep the lights on throughout your house most of the time?

I usually turn them off unless I know I’m going back in there shortly.

As a rule I don’t care for the harsh lights so I tend to leave them off. I have little lamps going at night just to take the glare of things. The only time I want the bright lights on is during the day if it’s cloudy and for whatever reason, I need more light.

I don’t turn them on most of the time.

I only turn on the light if there isn’t enough natural light to work by. If it were only up to me, there would be no lights on except for those needed to accomplish something at any given moment. So I do turn off lights if I leave a room, unless I or someone will be back in there shortly. Someone told me it is more wasteful to turn the light off if you’re only going to leave it off for like 30 minutes or less.

I usually turn off the lights.

  5. Nikki says:

I turn it off, if I’m not planning on going back in any time soon. I can’t stand when every light in the house is on.

  6. Laura says:

Generally, I turn them off, too. I’m fortunate that my house has a TON of windows, so we have natural light most of the day, everywhere on the first floor. My big struggle is getting Josh to turn lights off when he’s done in a room. He’ll follow me around, lecturing me on “saving energy”, but he won’t turn a light off to save his backside…

  7. Jenny says:

yes, I’m one of those who likes to have the lights on in the house….lol oops

My mom used to come home from work and say “it’s like a morgue in here” and turn on all the lights, LOL.

It’s really odd because at night I just like the small lamps, nightlights and the fireplace. I just like nice soft lighting but during the day, if it’s cloudy or I need the light, I want it as bright as can be. Why is that? At night in the kitchen, I unscrew 3 of the 5 light-bulbs in my kitchen light.
