I’d call myself a pack rat but I’m sure not a hoarder. My house would never look like that pic. Jason is the biggest other culprit I know. LOL about Nikki’s post! Fitting doncha think???

I’m a pack rat, but I cannot compare to Steve, who saves damn near everything. And now Josh is starting it, too! Drives me nuts, because I’m trying to purge stuff.

That pic makes me nervous. I began to watch the TV program Hoarders last night and I had to turn it off. I am definitely not a pack rat but my husband? I call his shed the pit of no return and refuse to look in there let alone step inside (even if I could).

I’m not a pack rat. I used to save a lot more than necessary, but everything is relative. I have never had all that much space, so it never got too crazy. Also, every so often I get the itch to clean stuff out. I’ve always been like this. I can remember doing the periodic purge in my childhood bedroom. Lately, I’m getting better at chipping away at the “stuff.” I visualize myself being able to live out of a shopping cart, LOL. Cause you never know!

My grandma was the worst pack rat I knew personally – I think. She had that kind of living room with piles and piles of old newspapers and magazines that she was going to read “some day.”

Now, my parents are getting kinda bad. But in their case, I think it’s more about not having the energy to clear stuff out. Sure, they have their things that they collect, but it’s not “everything.” My sister is the same way – she’s not a great housekeeper, and she’ll be the first to admit it. She just doesn’t like cleaning, so she doesn’t do it much. She has collections of stuff, but only in a few categories.

My boss-partner has way too many clothes, because she’s fluctuated a lot in size over the years and she keeps everything in case she eventually gets to that size again. She also has boxes of papers because she “never has time” [aka never takes time] to go through them. Much of what she has in storage will never be used because she can’t remember where it is when she wants it, anyway. Might as well throw it all out if you ask me. But nobody asked me.

My car has run horrible for the last couple months and i was scared to run a diagnosis, for money reasons!!!

Turns out it was a stupid torn, rubber hose. Guess what I had in the garage?

Car parts from 6 years ago… I dug them out and fixed the car!!

I save everything, but its SO AWESOME when I get to use it!

I am the opposite of a pack rat. It may be because I’ve always been used to leaving stuff behind when moving. I don’t get attached to many things. I have no problem throwing a pair of shoes away I’ve had for 20 years! Jason! 😉 I do hold on to some stuff. Bailey’s stuff mostly, or things people give me that mean something. I just cannot handle clutter.

The one person who is far worse than Jason or Joy, is my oldest sister. She used to be so bad that it was near hoarding. I don’t think she’s so bad now. It was awful going to her house when I’d visit. I felt like I had to clean before I could even say hi to her! lol

Well I don’t really “know” him but I’d have to say Jason.
Although I tend to keep stuff. You know how it works. As soon as you toss it you need it.

  8. Vicki says:

I don’t think i’m a packrat, to me a packrat means a lot of clutter.

I used to be a pack rat but never a hoarder. My house wasn’t cluttered but I had sooooo much stuff packed in the cellar. When I moved in with my daughter and her family. I had to get rid of mostly everything in my house and there was a ton of stuff. Now I have what’s in my bedroom and a few bins of books in the basement.

Im the total opposite of a pack rat.I hate having to much stuff.Makes me feel overwhelmed.Right now with us remodeling the kitchen Ive had to put stuff in other rooms. My office is full of stuff and Im having a hard time looking at it.Its tempting to throw it all in boxes and haul it off to selfhelp.I know Id be kicking myself later though.I just cant stand clutter.

Im not sure who I know who is a pack rat.No one really though I have some family who do have more “stuff” in their houses than I do.Like lots of nicknakes etc.To much for my liking but I dont have to live there:)
