Theme songs

Does anyone else miss theme songs? They don’t really have too many of them anymore. Some shows (The Good Wife) starts and goes on for a good almost 10 minutes and then it cuts, a little tune comes on, they show the cast and that’s it. Then you have the CSI shows and those are some awesome songs but those are songs and not a theme song.

Think of Gilligan’s Island. Mr. Ed. Green Acres. Facts of Life. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Full House. I’m probably aging myself but can you guys sing some of these songs now? You know every single word. Somehow these songs come right to mind and you know them all. Petticoat Junction just ran through my head!

Which ones do you remember and can still sing every word? Do you miss these openings? These songs? I do. When I looked at the song site I was there for over an hour. It was fun.

Beverly Hillbillies, Dukes of Hazzard, Friends, Cheers, Frasier. M*A*S*H (yes, there were words, just not on the show. and yes, I know them!) Flintstones. Jetsons.Casper, the Friendly Ghost. Scooby Doo. Addams Family. I Love Lucy (another one that they didn’t use the words, but the song HAD words… and this one, they used as part of the show).

Honorable Mention: Andy Griffith. I can whistle it. And I”m trying to teach it to my stubborn cockatiel, who refuses to even try.

I’m sure there are others, and I’ll probably be back with them.

    Steve’s list:
Batman. (nanana are words!!). Brady Bunch. Partridge Family. Courtship of Eddie’s Father. Thanks for the Memories, from Bob Hope’s shows. That was more of a signature, as opposed to a show theme song.

Banana Splits. Spider Man. DIfferent Strokes. Mary Tyler Moore. Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Zoom

Instrumental only: Dick Van Dyke, Wonderful World of Disney, Wild Kingdom, Bonanza, Hawaii 5-0, Masterpiece Theatre, Rifleman, Gunsmoke, Streets of San Francisco, Quincy.

I do remember a lot of the ones Laura mentioned. Especially the older ones. I used to love Hawaii Five-O so that is always a fun one. St. Elmo’s Fire or whatever that hospital show was. Hill street blues.

All in the Family: “Those were the daaaaays.” The Jeffersons: Moo-oovin’ on up! Welcome Back Kotter. Laverne & Shirley. Greatest American Hero.

Lol! It was St. Elsewhere!! “St. Elmo’s Fire” was an ’80’s-era movie with a bunch of the “Brat Pack” – Judd Nelson, Demi Moore, Emelio Estivez, Rob Lowe, etc.

The list made me smile. Those where the days I do miss all the fun songs. I wonder why TV has changed in that way maybe money having to pay for the songs. I’m not sure it was a comforting addition to watchig your favorite show. All you have to do is hear the music. Navar likes to watch Chuck we like the music on that show it’s fun and upbeat.
