Well, the “Big Game” is over (don’t want to step on any copyrighting toes, do we?), one QB is on his way to DisneyWorld and the other to the bargaining table; the cup has been awarded, the Gatorade dumped, and people all over the country are nursing hangovers.
And we’re left here with a massive pile of dishes. So, pull up a scrubbie, some dry towels, and somebody take over “put away” duty. With all of us chipping in, we can get this done in no time, and have a nice cup of tea.
What are your plans for the week? Did you weekend go well? And can someone please send some snow my way?
Well, yesterday I finally got the kids away for an afternoon/evening without aunties. We went to the park so they could ride bikes a little, then they went on the equipment and promptly went down a very wet slide. So they were in dripping wet skirts for a while, but I was not willing to go back home to change. We didn’t have time if we were going to get our agenda accomplished. That will teach them to check the slide first! We did our routine shopping plus a trip to Old Navy, where I picked up some shirts and leggings to turn their warm-weather dresses into winter dresses. They had altogether too much fun playing in Old Navy. Let’s just say my daughters are the only people on earth who have fought over the love of a headless mannikin (sp?).
Today after church, a guy came up to ask me about my kids. It’s pretty obvious that they were adopted, so I sometimes get questions. Turns out this guy has an adopted daughter (now in college) and he used to go to the same church I went to as a kid, and his wife was a teacher there. His wife died a couple of years ago. Anyhoo, we chatted for a long time about adoption and the church and school. So that’s how I spent my “me time” this week. (Usually I spend it in Sunday School.) Now knowing how much I suck with names and faces, I will probably fail to recognize him the next time we meet.
Not much else going on. Just working and procrastinating, as usual.
This week I have no grand plans. Just to keep trying to get back on track with a schedule of sorts. Monday I want to get our hair cut – we didn’t go last week because someone was in a foul mood and I didn’t want to deal with it. I want to get the kids to school earlier and pick them up earlier – let’s shoot for 8:30 to 6:00 this week. That will give us more time to get through the stuff I try to do with them in the evenings, without extending bedtime too much. Problem is, I tend to do my best work in the afternoon right up to 6pm, so I need to ramp up the discipline. (HA! What discipline? I really should be retired.) Come fall, the kids have to be at school around 8am and picked up by 6pm, and the new school is about 20 minutes away in low traffic/good weather, so we need to improve our habits.
Well, everyone have a great week!
This week is going to be crazy! I have movers coming Saturday to move my furniture. Sunday I have the cable/Internet people in the morning and then I have a Girl Scout Financial Check-up that I have to attend in the afternoon! My youngest starts Track on Monday, she helps out with CCE classes Wed and is babysitting Thurs. In between all this I need to pack everything and go to work!!! Calgon take me away!
Our weekend was great! Saturday, we went on a moonlight trail walk. It was such a beautiful night and the kids had a blast! Sunday was football. We also did some rearranging and got our bedroom clean, and our weight bench set up. We didn’t eat a bunch of food like most people do during the game. I put some boneless pork ribs in the crockpot, and made crack potatoes! 🙂 No mess here!
Not sure what’s going on this week. I know I have to work out harder, and longer!!! I do work out hard, but the session is only 20 minutes, and I need more than that. This spring a friend and I are joining a spinning class at the high school. I can’t wait for that!
Anyways…have a great Monday!
