Question of the day

I guess if there’s paper at the table I will. Most of the time when I’m on the phone I’ll do some scribbles.
I used to do it all the time. I did when I was in school and supposed to be paying attention and like Jenny, when I was on the phone. But with cordless phones being the way they are, I hate holding them like the old phones used to be so easy to tuck in your neck. You know what I mean! So I don’t as much anymore but I got this really cool “coloring book” thing full of doodles and that’s been fun to color with colored pencils.
Does drawing on the bathroom stalls at work count?
LOL!! If it’s doodling.
Yes, I have always been a doodler.
I used to when I was in school. I don’t do it very often anymore.
I never could. It’s the perfectionist in me… when I’d try, it always had to be ‘perfect’. it had to look like something, or be symmetrical, or more artsy than it was. I am actually disappointed by the fact that I can’t do it.
Sometimes. If I’m making a list of groceries and get stuck, I start doodling. If I’m on the phone with someone who requires me to write stuff down, I’ll doodle.
Isn’t it funny how many of us do this while on the phone?
Are there certain things you find yourself doodling more than others? I always do hearts, or flowers, my signature, or Bailey’s name. If the paper has lines, I’ll start a symmetrical shape.
I used to doodle when I was on the phone but Im not on the phone as much anymore. With being on the computer and communicating that way more and more over the years my hand is on the mouse,no time to doodle.I used to fill up pages of hearts and overlapping squares or Id write my signature over and over and over!Well at least Im wasting less paper now.
I rememeber you signatures!! LOL!
REALLY?You saw that?lol.
Oh yeah! Sheets full!
I doodle in meetings. I was scolded once as he deemed it “unproffessional”.
But after several meetings with presidents of companies whom themselves doodled at the time and proof from a exhaustive study showing that doodling actually keeps the person’s attention focused, he started to doodle himself.
So I doodle again. Working in an architectural firm actually encourages drawing and creativity.
Ah,thats funny!Doodle away!
I agree. I am terrible at keeping my attention focused when the task is listening. My mind will inevitably wander to something else and I’ll miss what I’m supposed to hear. Doodling is mindless and allows me to at least “mostly” (or partly?) listen.
On the computer, obviously I do not doodle, but the equivalent is Mahjong. If I do not play Mahjong during a conference call where I’m not doing much of the talking, then I will end up doing something (checking my emails, whatever) that takes my mind far away. I just can’t help it. Listening is one of my weakest skills.
Oh I wish I could play mahjong or something!! On the last really big project I worked on, for 3/4 of a year we had 2 large conference calls a week that lasted from 2-3 hrs at a time. I had to pay attention as I was the one in charge, even though most information was not relevant (directly) to my portion. Made for lonnnnnng boring mornings!!
I’d end up doing CAD work whilst listening (or sometimes, not listening), and then fetched up in a conversation I was oblivious to.
Opps! i thought i was in the thread above.
