T.G.I.F.

Happy Friday! I feel just like this puppy right now. I still don’t feel like I’m caught up on sleep, if that’s even possible to do. It doesn’t help that I have little strength. My mind wants to go, and my body tells it to STOP! I have to listen to my body. We have absolutely no plans for the weekend, and it’s staying that way. We’re planning on watching, The Help. I wanted to over this last weekend, but that didn’t happen! Lots of relaxing, movies and some good ol’ comfort food for us this weekend.

What’s your most favorite “comfort food?”

So, how was your week? Any weekend plans?

Man, I don’t know what to say about this week. On one hand, I really did a lot of work, which ought to be a good thing. I guess it is. But more and more keeps coming in. It’s stressing me out! I always feel like someone’s going to catch me making a big mistake or just being generally incompetent. So I sent out numerous projects this week, and as always, the lawyers and CPAs on the other side(s) have to comment on them and ask questions etc. Each time I get one of these emails, I feel like I want to run away and never come back. Of course, in the end, it’s always reasonable stuff like “please change the entity name to ABC LLC” as opposed to “this makes no sense and I’ve never seen such a shitty piece of work in my life.” Although on the project I’m working on right now – which I just heard about this morning – the investor is on my ASS for not already being done extending 20yr data to 30yrs (plus making a bunch of other changes). So you know what I’ll be up doing tonight. I just hope I catch up at some point before our next “big deadline” comes up.

This weekend, I’m told I have some doing on Saturday night, but I don’t think kids are allowed, so I will try to beg off. I don’t enjoy those professional networking type things anyway, so why should I pay someone to sit with my kids on a Saturday night?

Sunday I have promised to do my friend’s taxes. That means I have to buy and install the software first, so I’ll have to figure out a way to schedule that in the next two days. This is a friend I usually only see once per year, so hopefully we’ll have a little time to chat.

My backspace key keeps getting stuck. That is a pain. I guess I should put some effort into fixing that rather than letting it eat too much of my typing.

Can’t think of anything else that’s newsworthy.

Say, can you believe it’s already the middle of February?

I can’t get used to your icon! You and Joseph are so alike now. I wonder wth.

      • Joseph says:

Rollkucken would be my most favourite comfort food.
        As for this weekend:

Tonight, get the screw taken out of the tire and patched (the tire, not the screw). Yet another one!
Tomorrow, take the car in for routine servicing and then probably Church.
        Sunday probably ice fishing.
Monday (family holiday for us here), probably just relax!

Sometimes WordPress just does funny stuff.

Well, Today (Friday), Josh is going home on the bus with one of his friends. He’ll spend the afternoon over there, and they’ll deliver him home after dinner sometime. So we have a quiet day planned, which is good, because I’m STILL trying to get over this plague. I hate that every one of my colds now turns into a sinus infection. This never happened before Josh was born. Why does pregnancy have to mess with our bodies that way? Honestly.

Saturday, I’m signed up to work the admissions table at our schools Basketball Tourney. I really hate basketball, but I love our school, so it’s no hardship to spend a couple hours there.

Don’t have anything else planned. Maybe if it gets yukky, I’ll take Josh to Chuck E. Cheese’s… he’s got a bucketful of tokens sitting in our truck, doing nothing but taking up space…

I just got another project out. I think I solved a problem this big team has been working on for two years.

It’s funny, because I was doing my bathroom reading, which at the moment is Deepak Chopra’s Ageless Body, Timeless Mind. The book suggests an exercise to make oneself aware of the power of “intent.” The author says, think of something you want to happen and tell yourself it will happen and believe it, and see if it works. Well, I was in the middle of this project which was rather tedious and stressful, and all I wanted to do was go to sleep. But I thought, let’s give it a try. I said, “I want everyone to be happy with my work for the next 24 hours.” Then I went back to my desk and got back on the project, and pretty soon I had found the solution.

So I’m rather pumped right now. I hope my Friday work is similarly positive.

Change in plans. Today, I’m starting on this. I’m SO sick of Legos being EVERYWHERE. Hopefully, this will not only help corral, but help Josh find that specific piece that he needs when he’s building.

I guess my favorite comfort food would be my Mrs.’ NY style cheesecake. I need some comfort right about now too.

This week has been a bit scrambled for me… and pretty emotional as well. Sunday, February 19, 2012 is the five year anniversary of our son-in-law (Sgt Buddy James Hughie) beind KIA while serving as a combat medic in Afghanistan and i have been trying to put together a Wreath Laying Ceremony. There is much more involved than I ever imagined. But it looks like all of the various aspects that need to come into play are finally in place.

Buddy’s former Captain is coming into town on Saturday. I’ve invited both the solderis from OK out for dinner but I have yet to have them accept or decline. Typical of their response/committment.

Sunday at 1400 hours is the ceremony, followed by a catered BBQ shin-dig. I really am just emotionally spent at this point. Can’t imagine how things will be by Sunday evening. Sigh.

My favorite comfort food is spaghetti & meatballs.
This Saturday I am walking in a 5K with my youngest and her school. I have a friend walking with me, so we should have a blast.
Yesterday I just found out I am going full-time at work! Yay! I will have a ton of stuff to do but I can’t wait! I am such a geek, I love working my butt off!

  6. Sue says:

This is my daughter’s big tournament weekend for basketball, but I don’t hate it like Laura does! LOL! I don’t LOVE it (like if I had to pick one sport to play forever), but I really enjoy it and the girls have fun. We play one game Saturday and 2 games on Sunday. Somehow we got a first round bye on Saturday, but no one is complaining. We are all staying in the same hotel that has a Paul Bunyan themed water park and doing a ‘team meal’ on Saturday night. We should have fun.

Somewhere in the midst of all of this I have to finish the props for the 4-H skit! Why I said I’d make the boat is beyond me! I really just have to figure out how to make the sail and mast and we’ll be good to go. Oh, and find Trin a native islander costume. And get her ready for her performing arts performance (She’s playing her trumpet) and her band/music concert which in thrown in there on Thursday for good measure. I will be so glad when March is here!

  7. SKL says:

Oh, the comfort food – I have to go with Spaghetti as well. When I have spaghetti, I eat a ridiculous amount, so it’s a good thing I don’t have it often.

My sister is a really good cook, and most Sundays she comes to my house to sit with my kids and cook dinner. She is a believer in comfort food, so despite the fact that I’m not a cook, my kids and I are far from deprived. If anything, we get too much comfort food.

  8. Nikki says:

I wish I would have woke up in a better mood since it is Friday, but frankly I’m kinda just over this.
😦 Not sure I can go the whole 4 weeks, the doctor wants me to go with this thing inside me.

I need a vacation, a real one, and I want to feel normal again. Sorry for the sad story…just feeling sorry for myself! Don’t mind me…

    Happy Friday everyone.

    • Joy says:

Maybe you won’t need to go that long. Is it really starting to bother you? Is it painful? If it is, remember how awful you felt before. I’m sorry you feel so poopy. I do too but mine is just this nasty head cold which is on it’s way out the door. Take it extra easy today.

      • Nikki says:

I have to leave it for at least 2 weeks, but she really wants it to stay for 4 because of the amount of damage that was done. If you’ve ever had a bladder infection, that is what it feels like. Urgency to pee, painful when peeing. That’s caused from the stint.

I’ve very thankful the pain in my back from the stone is gone and I’ll take this pain any day of the week over that but it’s still very uncomfortable. I have a hard time leaving the house. I went to the store for the 1st time yesterday, and barely made it home.

      • Joy says:

I’ve never had a badder infection but I believe you. I know how you feel too. It’s hard being under the weather for so long. I’ve never had such a crappy string of illness ever in my life as I’ve had this winter. As hard as it is you’re going to have to take it easy no matter what.

        • Nikki says:

I know. I feel awful for you and Paul this winter. It’s been such a mild winter too, it really doesn’t make much sense. It does make you depressed, after feeling so lousy for so long.

I’m only doing light cleaning, and I take a lot of breaks. By the evening, I’m done. It wouldn’t be so bad, either, if I didn’t have to walk up stairs every time I had to go pee. I will never ever live in a house without a bathroom on each level!

        • Joy says:

They said this mild weather is what’s causing all this stuff. Nothing has frozen and now the allergies are going to be early. I hope I won’t ever need oxygen again.

    • mssc54 says:

Hey I feel sorry for you too! But really four weeks is a small price to pay for the optimum results you need in that area. Don’t you think? At least you can still shower and bathe regularly. Other stuff may be an issue but hey…

Hang in there… or stick it out! 🙂

  9. SKL says:

I’m sorry so may people are feeling cruddy! We have a bug going around here, but so far it seems to be relatively mild. The weather is looking kinda nice so maybe we could have a little fun this weekend – so I hope everyone starts feeling better soon!

  10. Joy says:

We have no plans for the weekend. I’m glad though. It’s just going to be nice and quiet. Paul and I got another go around with this stupid head cold and I’ve been taking Benadryl and it does knock me out but I didn’t sleep for 2 nights and I needed sleep.

It’s so dang gorgeous outside that I think I’ll take Maddie for a little walk around the house in a little while.

Comfort food. I do love me some Campbell’s chicken noodle soup. I also love my homemade saur kraut and pork hocks. I haven’t made it in ages. Maybe I should make that this weekend. I also love the Canadian BBQ and All Dressed chips. Now that’s what I call comfort 🙂
