The other day, I was feeling pretty grumpy because, for a snowbunny like me, this winter has really sucked rocks. I miss playing outside, sledding, cross-country skiing and all that good stuff. I miss the peace and quiet of a peaceful walk in the woods, and the delightful burn of a cup of hot chocolate after. So I’m going to have to do it virtually. So come with me on a walk through the woods. Listen for the squirrels digging up their buried treasures, watch for deer, and listen to the chickadee-dee-dees. I feel calmer already.
As always, share what you did this weekend. Did you follow plans, or did you get surprised? And, if you can’t think of anything else… what’s your go-to escape when you need a few moments of peace and quiet?
I’ve hated this NON winter too. I really wanted to snow shoe since I haven’t been able to do it for 3 years. Maybe we’ll get enough tomorrow so I can go once at least.
Not supposed to get much…and its gonna be very slushy whatever we do get! Supposed to be 41 tomorrow. I’m lovin this winter so far! 🙂
Hopefully all the young trees you bought survive it. They say the young tree’s might not live because they’ve started to bud a few times. They don’t know what to do. The maples even started leaking syrup last month. It’s really bad for our flowers and tree’s. Our trees could also die from not having enough water.
I’m pretty sure I lost my whole batch of spring flowers in the back around my bird bath. My daffodils, hyacinths and those little purple flowers, I can’t think of the name. They are tiny little bell like flowers but they all budded. It’s warm over the septic and they usually do well there but do you think they’ll rebud? I’ve never remembered such a winter like this where my flowers started to come up in January.
Are they Blue Bells? I can see them in my head little blue bell flowers. Not sure if thats what they are called or not. I’ll have to look in my flower book.
You know what? I think they were? Blue Bell’s sound right only they are very close to purple. I also had crocus’s out there too.
Crocus’s are one of my all time favortie flowers. First to come up in my garden at home in the Spring time. No flowers or garden here.
I can’t see the photo you posted, but I’m sure it’s nice, as yours always are.
This weekend I got away from the grind a little. I did work on Saturday, but we did a little shopping Saturday night and got outdoors for a while. Today (after church / music practice) I spent most of the day at a friend’s house working on her taxes while my sister was with the kids. Now I have a lot of work to catch up on, but I’m in a pretty good mood so far.
As for the winter – don’t despair quite yet. There may yet be more snow. I think it’s kind of nice to get halfway through winter and not be sick of the snow yet. Snow can be fun, but in general, I would rather not have to dress in layers every time I go out to get the mail or pick up my kids. Although I think part of my impatience is that it gets dark so early. By the time I pick up my kids from daycare it’s too dark to really do anything outdoors, snow or no snow.
I had a really good weekend. Friday, I spent the entire day shopping. THAT NEVER HAPPENS!!! Josh was invited to a friend’s after school, and was not expected home until around 7. Steve wasn’t feeling good, so he didn’t go to the gym. So 11 AM hit, and I was off. Met up with a friend at Home Depot, bought a bunch of supplies for a project that I’m working on (which will be detailed in a future post… I’m SO excited about it, and it’s going well, so far. Shhhh, I don’t want Murphy to know…). We had lunch, and then hit Target, which was fun. Then she had to leave, so I finished up on my own. The Clinique counter at the mall (nothing exciting, just moisturizer), and HyVee (groceries). I didn’t get home until about 5, though. Then I made dinner for Steve and myself… the two leftover Filet Mignons from Steve’s Birthday (I’d bought four). MAN, were they yummy.
Saturday, I had to work the concession stand at the basketball tournament at our school, which was fun. I brought Josh along, and he got a real kick out of helping… when it was slow, we even let the boys (his friend, Brody, was there, too) take the money and make change. Such good experience for them. In the afternoon, we brought Josh’s friend (Collin, the one from Friday) back to our house to spend the day with us… and the two boys had a blast building dinosaurs out of Legos and trying to play hockey on the 1-foot circle of ice that’s left in my back yard.
Today was pretty laid back – went to a Pampered Chef party, spent a little more money, and came home to make Swedish Pancakes. Wrapped it up by reading a chapter of Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets to Josh. Complete with horrible English Accents.
Is the picture not showing for anyone else? It was up yesterday, and now it’s not appearing. I’m trying to figure out if it’s my bad connection, or if there’s an issue with the pic and i need to replace it
I don’t see the pic either 😦
It’s funny. Sometimes it’s there and sometimes it’s not. It didn’t show up on Paul’s computer last night but it did on mine so I don’t know. Right now it’s showing on both.
I can’t see the picture here also not sure whats going on with the picture. It should have loaded up by now.
I can see the picture now and it is very pretty, beautiful snow sceen.
I have today off since the kids don’t have school, but we have a lot to do so it won’t be relaxing! The tourney this past weekend was fun, but we did not win. The last game was ours and the girls gave it away so that was a tough loss, but hopefully they all learned something. Today is all about making the darn 4-H props! I have to run to WalMart at some point for paint and tag board and some groceries, but instead I’m sitting here 🙂 I don’t want to get dressed yet!
I heard the coach gave it away. Toby was glad you had volleyball last night so he could take out his aggression there. LOL!!
We had a very quiet weekend but we were both getting over pretty bad colds so the quiet was okay. I watched the funeral on Sat. HOLY!! Talk about LONG! I loved Kevin Costner. He spoke really well.
I made a new recipe yesterday and it was really good. I took chicken breasts and flattened them as thin as I could get them and I made a box of stuffing and added half a pound of Jimmy Dean pork sausage to it and then chopped up broccoli and put that all over the chicken breast and rolled them up as tight as I could get them and baked them in cream of chicken soup. Boy were they good.
Last night was good TV again. I’m so happy that Celebrity Apprentice is on again. It’s so good. I felt bad that Cheryl Tiegs went home first but that Gotti woman! What a b*t*h. I know they’ll keep her around for a long time because of ratings but last night wasn’t really fair. IMO!! Did you all like the Amazing Race? I don’t watch it. I couldn’t give up Once Upon A Time. I’ve never seen an episode of the race but I wondered how you all loved Rachel.
Have a good day all. It’s cloudy and gloomy and we probably won’t get snow this time either.
Joy,Rachel wasn’t annoying at all but it looks like there is a spat with her and another chick next week.
We went to town yesterday ran lots of errands. I noticed a tree was startting to bud out. Too early for that not sure what the rest of Winter weather will bring here. It’s been fairly mild here as far as snow goes. We are use to a lot more snow where we use to live. The snow will stick in the yard for a good part of the Winter usually. There is alot more sun over here which is nice. When we were driving to town it was 41 degrees warm on the face. I’m OK with the mild Winter glad to not be driving on icey roads all the time.
We had a very nice weekend. I got all the laundry done on Friday, and Jason kept up on it this weekend. So, now I still have no laundry to do! 🙂 That makes Monday, a lot more bearable.
It was such a nice weekend, Bailey even went out to the park with some friends for a few hours. I became really acquainted with my recliner and heat pad. 🙂 Watched TV, movies….we even grilled some chicken. Even with this warm weather and no snow, we really haven’t grilled too much.
Bailey’s home today, which is always nice. Have a great Monday, everyone!
1:08 PM, Monday: Let’s see if THIS picture stays there.
I never saw the first one, but I do see this one. Very pretty!
Ironically, this is the exact same picture that was up before and wasn’t sticking. I don’t get it.
It’s there for me.
Side note Laura. I accidentally hit “publish” when I was organizing the posts and I can’t find the pic you used for your “Pay for Attendance” post . Do you have it anywhere? It was a girl with a backpack. I’m so sorry. I’m actually surprised that doesn’t happen more often.
I have no idea where the girl with the backpack went. Perhaps it was time for her camping trip. I found a Lolcat who will willing to fill in for her. I think he’s a much better choice, anyway.
I see it. Very nice!
