As its been every few years but i think we’ll stick with the one we have now for a long time.

Got my 2005 trailblazer in 06 and Jason’s 2011 car in summer of 2010

I’ve never had a new car. I’ve ended up with 2 of Paul’s siblings kids cast offs that I hated and I got two of my dad’s old cars but they were both in really good shape. I now have my Tahoe and I won’t get a new one until this dies and it was nowhere near new. I like it a lot though.

Well……. let’s see. I started with a used car, an awesome little hand-me-down from Big Brother Jim during college. Then I got a new car in ’93. After that, all the new or “new” cars came as needed… Steve’s car went in about 95 when the hood lock froze open, and the hood smashed open on the expressway. They totaled it and we got a Blazer. Then several years later, my car died and his parents handed us down their old Taurus (they keep their cars pristine, so it was like new, at about 5 years old). Then the Blazer died, and we bought my pickup (I think that was in ’05). Then he crashed the Taurus sliding on some black ice, and his parents again handed us down a car, an Explorer, this time. He trashed that one in The Wreck, so now we dont’ need any more cars for him. My truck is about 6 now, and still going strong, so I’m guessing I’ll keep it for a while longer, unless I win the lottery…… So I guess, to answer your question…. I’ve only owned 3, Steve has had several. So I guess I change cars every 8-10 years?

I’m still on my second car, unless you count the nasty old $450 wonder that my friend and I went halfers on in grad school, or the one my dad gave me for free after that (which was totaled when a semi hit me on the freeway). I bought a new Saturn in 1993, and I traded it in for another new Saturn in 2003. So about every 10 years so far, though I hope this one lasts longer. I did not take the best care of my first Saturn.

When we have to. I thought we were going to have to junk Jason’s work car over the weekend (90’s Ford escort) and buy a new (used!) but thankfully between Jason and my brother they got it fixed.

We haven’t bought new in many years. We don’t miss the $500-$700 car payment, either!

I only replace cars as absolutely needed. If it can be fixed for a reasonable cost, I’ll fix it. When it gets tooooo costly to repair it’s time for the car to go bye-bye. I’ve bought 2 new cars in my lifetime. The first one was a piece of crap, the second was a Toyota which was marvelous. No more car payments for me though, from now on I’m going with good, used cars.

We only replace as needed also. Since I got my license at 16, I’ve had 4 cars. 2 junkers and 2 ‘real’ cars. None of them were brand new! I love my car now and was sad when we talked about trading it in for an actual car with better gas mileage. Now that I’m going back to my old job, that idea is on hold!
