Pull Up a Crossword

I’m writing this on the evening before Mother’s Day. My intent for tomorrow is to LOAF. Do NOTHING. I don’t even know if I’m going to make my own breakfast. I may just lay in bed and let the guys pour a protein shake down my throat. It’s not like i’ve been doing a ton of stuff, either, I just feel like being a lump. And I figure, Mother’s Day is a good day to do that.

Ok, that whole loafing and doing *nothing* thing will last an hour, on the outside. Then I’ll have to read. Or watch a movie, or play a game or something. I can’t just *not* do anything. How about you all? What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not doing anything? My family – or part of it – likes to do crosswords, Suduko, that kind of thing. I do, sometimes, but I tend to lean toward computer games… mahjongg or bejeweled… or card games. We taught Josh to play Cribbage this weekend, and he’s turning into quite the shark!

So… how was your weekend? Did you loaf? And HOW did you loaf?

I certainly did not “loaf” this weekend! This was actually one of the busiest weekends I’ve had in a long time. Mr. Houseguest came for a visit starting Friday, and my boss-partner’s birthday was Sunday. She likes to “do” her birthday. So the fact of out-of-town company was used as an excuse to do all kinds of stuff we never do. We ate out at a favorite restaurant for every meal, and we went to the nearby waterfront/beach, saw an IMAX movie, did a lot of shopping, went to the aquarium they opened nearby, and a few other things. It was nice, but VERY exhausting. It didn’t help that my daughters both managed to injure themselves over the three days. Of course we managed to squeeze some work into the mix, too.

Right now I’m wishing I knew a trick for reversing the effects of eating out so much in so little time. I mean a healthy trick. I could probably pass for 8mos pregnant this evening.

All in all, it was a nice weekend because there weren’t a lot of guilt trips over work. If only this could be my norm.

Go vegetarian for a day, and drink tons and tons of water. Usually, my biggest problems with eating out are too much salt (which leaves me dehydrated), and the absolute absence of decent vegetables. Even the best salads in restaurants are mostly iceberg or romaine lettuce. I find that after a weekend like that, if I spend Monday eating healthy and well – good proteins (fish, eggs) and good veggies (steamed, lightly stir-fried with the chicken, or raw), and a ton of water, I’m fixed right up.

Oh, and PLENTY OF SLEEP. (yeah, I know. good luck with that one)

I like to read as my “doing nothing” and that can turn into a catnap. I also like puzzles but I go in streaks. I read, knit or do puzzles and I’ll do one for a long time and then just switch. Right now I’ve really been into reading all the Mary Higgins Clark novels that I missed. I thought I’d read more of her books but there were more of them that I’ve never read than I thought. I really like her.

I had a great Mothers Day. The kids were all here as well as my brother and Nikki’s mom and brother. The guys got the pool up and the girls got all my garden stuff out of the barn and so now I have some flower work to do but I’ll do that next weekend. I’m still a touch nervous of putting flowers out. I lost all my spring flowers from freezing so I’m just going to force myself to wait one more weekend. But it was a great weekend. I do have to admit to being very tired today. I think I’ve swept up 50 pounds of sand from yesterday!! We got half a load of new sand and the kids had so much fun playing in that. I could tell Nikki wanted to go in too but she refrained!!!

My mom has her next 3 month oncology appointment tomorrow so lets cross our fingers we’re still cancer free.

Haha…I went over there a few times! I love nice new sand! LOL

If the guys are going golfing next Saturday, I could come help you in the yard. If you want! 🙂 Something to think about. I’d drive myself anyways, because Bailey and I want to go to the swappers meet, and Jason doesn’t.

If you wanted to come out in the morning and do the swappers meet and do a little planting with me that would be great. I do have Sue’s grandma’s birthday party in Fairhaven at 1 though.

New sand is awesome. I wish someone would have taken a pic of Bailey when he was in that hole though. I have one of Christopher but not Bailey. That would have looked cute framed.

I know! I forgotten I even had my camera! I didn’t take any pictures. On the way home, I said I wish we would had gotten a picture of all of us moms with the kids. 😦 Shoot!

We’ll just have to have another party. We’ll do a cookout some hot afternoon and we can play in the water.

Yikes, I kept telling myself all day I have to sit down and write about our weekend! It was SO nice today. I got the little pool out, and Lilly got in there!! I had to put my feet in. It was hot, and I am not complaining!!

Saturday was also really nice weather. My mom and I went shopping at the outlet center, and then went to lunch. On our way home, we stopped at Walmart and got some flowers, and mulch for the yard. For the rest of the day we worked in the yard. Bailey was at a birthday all day.

Sunday was nice too, but not nearly as warm as Saturday. It was a very nice, relaxing day. It was nice to just sit and visit. Supper was delicious!!! I had a 2nd helping even! I can’t wait to have that bread again…which reminds me, I should go repin it right now.

I got a cedar bird feeder from the boys, and my birds are reluctant to eat from it. 😦 Oh, Joy!! I found the perfect container for that jelly feeder Paul made me. I buy apple sauce in individual containers. They fit perfect! Now, I just have to remember to get grape jelly!

I like TV. I am one of those that loves reality TV. I DVR them, and then watch them when I have *nothing* to do. Other than that, I like to just sit on my back deck, most of the time in front of a fire if it’s in the evening. Reading out there is awesome! During the day it’s so quiet, all you heard are the birds singing and the occasional lawn mower.
