Actually, it wasn’t too bad. It did seem long, though. Maybe because our weekend was so busy. We, for the most part, have pretty relaxing weekends. That’s why I look forward to them so much. We’re usually at the ball field, or on the lake, or at home. All relaxing for me. Last weekend (Bailey’s party) as fun as it was, it was a lot of work. This weekend, Jason has a softball tournament, so that should be fun. It’s not an all-day thing Saturday either, so that’s nice too. He plays at 8:50pm Friday night, and 6pm Saturday night. Not bad at all.
How was your week, and what are your weekend plans?
Have a good one! 🙂
Well, I just have to say that I felt a pleasant breeze today! One that didn’t feel like it was wafting out of an oven! I hope there are many more to come this summer. (We got a little rain today, too.)
This week was more nearly normal than the past couple. Staying close to home for the most part. Just working in the daytime and doing things with my kids in the evenings, as it should be.
The clock has started ticking for our next “big deadline” (it was announced last Friday) so we have one more thing to worry about. I am still behind on my other work, of course, though I’m catching up little by little. So if you don’t hear much from me sometimes, just know that I’m working crazy hours and getting crazy tired.
I have no exciting plans coming up. I just wish I could get on a serious roll work-wise. You know how that goes.
Well, I hope everyone else has a great weekend!
This week has flown by for me. I have been very busy at work. I guess my work computer didn’t like working that hard so it took a permanent rest. On the bright side we keep all our documents on a server, so I didn’t lose a single thing and now I have the latest and greatest computer!
This Saturday I have all day training classes for Scouts. One class I am not looking forward to, it’s about the paperwork shuffle for one of the higher awards. Now the other class is an arts & crafts class for teens. That one will be cool and our girls need some fun stuff like that to do!
Hi Nikki. My week has really seemed to drag out. I picked up a shift Sat and Sun at work because we are so short staffed. That is what I will be doing and on Sunday probably just trying to catch up on sleep for the week ahead. I hope you have fun at your husband’s games! And enjoy the weekend. I know I’ll enjoy mine too because I work with a good crew on Sat. Love Love XOXOXOXO
We’ve had a kinda busy week. It’s really obvious that it’s time for Josh to go back to school. We’ve tried to keep a bit of a schedule, but he really struggles during Summer with so ‘little’ to do. We’ve had friends over twice this week, which helps, but it’s hard. He’s a kid who needs to be interacting a LOT more than I can provide. *sigh*
Anyway… yesterday, we had Manservant Jim’s kids over all day, and then last night, Josh and I met up with MJ’s family at the County Fair for the Demolition Derby. What an absolute BLAST!!! Josh likes bashing things up, anyway, so this was right up his alley, but the whole thing was fun. They started with “Bigfoot” – a monster truck – driving over several cars, jumping around, etc., and then went on to the actual derby. There were four car-fires (on two cars)! One car caught fire three separate times, the third time after it had been sitting, DQ’d, for like ten minutes. It quite literally spontaneously combusted!! The other fire came after a car was bashed and spun around. The fire engulfed the entire undercarriage, the engine, AND a trail of fuel that had leaked. That fire gave us a few moments of worry, as the firemen got out there and took care of it. But the driver was able to get out without any problems, so there was no harm done, except to the bashed-up car.
After the Derby, we wandered through the barns, which were still open, and watched the “cow practice” for a while; handlers were introducing their steers to the show ring in preparation for today’s (Friday’s) shows. There were two HUGE steers who wanted NO PART of the ring, and kept going on rampages, nearly dragging their handlers off their feet. But the handlers did well, and managed to keep them mostly under control. The kids loved it.
This weekend, we’re thinking of visiting another County Fair in the area – the Great Jones County Fair. (yes, “great” is in the title. Humble, aren’t they?) I hope we have more days like yesterday, where it’s in the upper 80’s, rather than earlier this week, when we were in the upper 90’s and low 100’s. ugh.
There is nothing better to me than the county fair. I’m glad you had fun. I love going. Ours is in two weeks I think. I can taste the french fries now 🙂
I’m actually really disappointed in our County Fair lately. Last year, they effed up and didn’t put the deposit down on time to reserve many of the Midway Vendors and Rides. And now this year, we have NONE. No midway. No rides. We have a climbing wall, provided by the local Military Recruiter (maybe the Marines?), and two food vendors – the Beef Council and the Pork Producers. Not that their stuff isn’t good, but really??? Our big “draw” is the Speedway, which has the Demo Derby, a Race Night, and a Tractor Pull. And that Demo Derby was wicked expensive! $10 for me, $7 for Josh, and an additional $14 for food. Next time, we’ll look for coupons for admissions, and we’ll eat before we go. I really hope the committee gets lots of complaints and gets their act together.
How disappointing. Wow. I actually don’t go down the “midway” but I also don’t have little kids anymore. I LOVE the people watching the most.
We don’t have too much planned for the weekend which is fine by me. The last few have been busy so I’ll take an easy one. I have two girls here today weeding my flowerbeds and it feels very odd to see them out there. But I can’t do it and they need the money so it worked out. They’re coming back in two weeks before a family gathering we’re having so that feels good to know. One less thing to do.
I’ve started scrap-booking again and now that I’m set up and somewhat organized, I’m having fun with it. Every little problem I could have had, I did. All the way from Creative Memories changing their page size and me having to buy Bailey and Trinity new books to condensing all the ones I’ve made in the past to running out of printer ink. Every little snag I could have hit, I did. I did get Christopher’s actually started last night. I realize I need to do this with other people again for a while to get some new idea’s. That’s part of the fun of doing it with others is you get good idea’s from them. I did talk to my lady and she has her house open once a week but took the summer off because not many people came. So once school starts she’s going to start back in and she lives close by so it’ll work well.
I do have to go to the golf course today. I don’t have to take the kids, Sue’s home today but I volunteered to help drive a cart. He wants to take them to golf real holes today and not just chip, drive and putt. If they have enough drivers I’ll come home and scrap.
What to do about supper? Any idea’s? What do you all eat in this heat?
They didn’t need me. YAY!!! No I can be a slacker!!!!!
We’re having fish tonight, Steve’s on yet another diet; this time, it’s “protein only” on days that he works out.
Tomorrow night, it’s the Bacon Gouda Burgers!! I’ll let you know how they are.
Oh yes. Please do. Where did you find the cheese?
Josh and I road-tripped today into W’loo to take care of some stuff, and I stopped in Target. Bought a POUND of it… to the tune of about $15.50!!! Which is why we rarely get it!
OUCH!!
