I’m tired, y’all. This adjusting to a new schedule thing is for the birds. Don’t get me wrong, I like working… I feel all grown up and stuff. It’s amazing how getting dressed up every day puts a little more spring in your step. But my brain is tired, getting stuffed full of all that insurance studying. I napped a little, today, and it gave me just enough ‘oomph’, I think, to go the rest of the evening.
Josh starts school in the morning (it’s Sunday night as I’m writing this), and he is just ‘bounce-off-the-walls excited’ about it. And man, it’s driving me nuts!! Although right now, he’s taking the half hour before bed to read, which is nice. A little wind-down before he goes to sleep. Haha… like he’s gonna sleep tonight… At least he’ll get up early in the morning. I hope.
What about you guys? How was your weekend? What’s your week look like?
I’m go glad your first week went well. You’ll get into a routine and it won’t take you very long. Good for you.
Good luck to Josh tomorrow on his first day. Will you get to put him on the bus or do you have to be to work before that? I hope he can get some sleep. We don’t start until after Labor Day.
All along, I’d planned on driving him. Now he’s thrown a wrench into the works and wants to take the bus. I wish I could get his little butt moving in the morning, so he could walk himself there, but I fear I’ll still have to drive him to the stop, which will mess up my still tenuous morning routine. And steve will be wanting a ride to the gym on MWF, so THAT messes me up, too. I had been getting up at 6. I might need to back it up to 5:30 now, which is just horrific to my brain.
This weekend has been odd. The kids had a sleepover with Nanny, and I have to say it was nice to have a little break from the details of getting them to bed and getting them going in the morning. I tried to sleep in, but actually I was just lying around doing nothing as long as I could get away with it. Of course the whole point was to get some work done. I did get some done, but not as much as I needed to. Still working on it. I do hope to get something substantial out tonight so I can move forward with a little less stress.
Miss E has a contagious but “benign” virus that leaves bumps all over her skin. It should go away by itself after some months, but I heard about a treatment that might work, and I decided to try it. No point having her feel self-conscious at school. I just wish I had heard about the treatment earlier. And I hope she’s not one of the 10+% for whom the treatment doesn’t work. So anyhoo, I’ll be applying a bunch of medicine all over the place twice a day for up to a month. Because I didn’t already have enough to do, right?
This week. I mentioned before that it’s going to be big. Monday is the girls’ first dance class at The Little Gym. Tuesday they have a short morning meeting/class with their new teacher and a tour of the school. I also hope to get a few administrative items squared away that day. Wednesday Miss A has a therapy appointment. Thursday is the kids’ first day of school, which includes a morning chapel with the parents and an early (2pm) dismissal. Also Thursday is the girls’ first karate and gymnastics classes at The Little Gym. Friday is their first full-length school day. I am going to be under so much pressure for taking so much personal time this week, when we are so busy at work. But I wouldn’t miss it for anything. (Not that I have a choice anyway!)
Not much to really add. It’s all exciting for me, but old stuff for all you guys. I’m sure I’ll let you all know if there’s anything interesting to report as the week goes on.
Good luck to Josh on his first day tomorrow!
To everyone else, enjoy your last week or so of summer vacation!
Have a great first day Josh!!!!! 2 weeks for us and I can, but can’t wait ๐ We had a great weekend and now have a busy start to the week. Can’t believe August is almost over!
I’m glad you survived your first week! ๐ Like Joy said, you’ll find a routine that works. That takes time. I hope Josh has a super day today!
September is always such a hard month for me, I never look forward to school starting. Except this year. I’m looking forward to it. Last year was so great for Bailey, in every way. Socially, academically, and he changed so much over that last school year, that I’m really looking forward to what this year will bring. Lilly goes to preschool, so I ‘ll have 3 mornings a week to myself. I do plan on getting out in the mornings and walking/jogging.
We had a great weekend. I stayed home all of Saturday (other than a quick WM run.) While the boys had practice, I cleaned, put all the laundry away, listened to music. It was nice. Then we met Paul and Joy for supper, and then went to Trinity’s birthday party. It was a good day.
Sunday was a lazy day!!! I put a roast, potatoes and carrots in the crock pot and that about all I did that whole day! ๐
Busy week for baseball. 3 practices, and then a scrimmage game Friday night. That’s the best kind of practice. Our season doesn’t officially start until September 9th. They are going to be unstoppable by then! ๐ Lets hope.
Have a great week, everyone!
