Well, this one snuck up on me. I didn’t realize it was Friday already. I suppose that’s better than it seeming like a very long week. Although, I’m sure it has felt long for some.
Bailey and I are planning on going to a couple of Trinity’s basketball games on Saturday. Jason will be working on a buddies van most of the day. My brother is coming over to help, and he’s bringing a big roast for me to cook. Other than that, not much going on around here.
We got our Christmas tree up on Sunday. We found a new tree farm, about 10 miles outside of town. Better trees, and less expensive than the farms closer to town. So far, the tree has fallen down twice, due to some very unruly cats! I think I scared them enough last time, because they have not messed with it since.
What’s going on with everyone? Any weekend plans? Do you have your Christmas tree up yet? Here’s a picture of ours, and one of the demon cats underneath. 😉
This seems like one of the longest weeks of my life and I can’t wait until tomorrow night knowing I have the weekend off from chemo. I’m super tired tonight and can’t wait to relax this weekend.
I’ll write more tomorrow.
So another week is drawing to a close. It wasn’t a really eventful week here. I got some good work done, but not enough. Got a setup with the chiropractor for Miss A to go 2x per week. That is a bit weird for me, but it seems to be good for her so far. I also called Kaiser to push again for them to do some kind of evaluation on her, and this time they did agree to look at her, but they sent me some forms for me and her teacher to fill out first. I’m still not sure I want her teacher to fill out a form saying she is awful at this and that. I think the teacher is already biased against her and talking about that might make it worse. So I have to think about that. Maybe I will revisit when school starts up again after the holidays.
Did I mention that the girls have decided to play the piano in church a week from Sunday? Ode to Joy and Joy to the World (just a coincidence, Joy!). I was surprised when Miss A said she wanted to do it. Miss E, who is a much better musician, took some convincing. They have never played in front of people before, so I have no idea how this will go, but I think it wil be good for them. Right now I’m making them practice over and over so that it will hopefully be easy stuff once the time comes. Miss E also has a solo song to sing in the Christmas program on the same day. Considering that last year she did the deer-in-the-headlights thing instead of singing with the group, this is quite a step. Hope she does her teacher proud.
A friend of ours wants to come over for a few days at Christmas time. He’s the one who has a daughter the same age as mine, and they just adopted a son from his mother country this year. I’m looking forward to this visit. It will make the holidays that much more hectic, but a good kind of hectic.
No big plans for this weekend. Just working and getting the kids to church. And I really need to get some online shopping done, as I’ve made no progress in the past couple of weeks. Yikes!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Bummer, it looks like our friends won’t be able to visit over Christmas after all. Well, in a way that is good, because a quiet Christmas is nice too!
Life has just been absolutely crazy around here. We’ve had wrestling most nights, Scouts some nights, and I *never* leave work on time. Weekends have been taken up with wrestling meets on sundays and something else every Saturday. We’ve got another set like that this weekend. Tomorrow is one of two office Christmas Parties, and Sunday – all day – is a wrestling meet.
I haven’t even STARTED Christmas shopping, God help me. I don’t even know what I’m getting for people. Honestly, I think I’m only going to do stuff for Josh this year. I’m really snugging up the budget. My family isn’t doing Christmas with us until after Jan 1, so that will give me time and After Christmas Sales to shop for them. 🙂
I think the tree is going up tomorrow. I’ve encouraged it going up during the week, but things just got away from Steve, I guess, and it didn’t happen. So we’ll try and get it up during the day tomorrow.
Yeek. I love Christmas…. but I HATE all the nonsense surrounding it. Or maybe I’m just creating too much stress for myself.
Laura, a lot of this is trying to find your rhythm with the new job. It takes more time than one would think at first. I know it’s hard, but it will get better – provided no big new problems surface!
And of course, this is the time of year when everyone loses it anyway. Just try to go with the flow – don’t do anything extra if you can avoid it. I’m looking forward to January 8 when I can start getting back into a real routine. No more big disruptions planned until school is out!
