As seen on TV, written by Sue

How many of you have purchased things you’ve seen on TV?  I ask because last week I became ‘one of them’!  I was on call last weekend and as I waited for my family to come and see me I had the TV on and saw an infomercial for an exercise video.  I have seen this particular infomercial before and thought it looked neat, but for some reason that day I HAD to have it.  For most of the show I resisted the urge to run to the computer and order it, but by the end I decided what the heck.  It’s a 30 day money back guarantee so if I don’t like it I’ll just send it back and there was so much stuff included “free” that it was a heck of a deal!  Yeah, I got suckered.  BUT, I have to say that I do like the workout so far and am excited to try all 5 videos.  This is the first time I’ve ever ordered from an infomercial and hopefully the last.  After I placed my order I thought of my sister in-laws story about her plant from QVC and how it wasn’t what she thought it would be.  So, have you ordered from TV and was it all rainbows and sunshine or was it junk?

I have not done it. One of my friends is rather suggestible and always saying “look, a cloth that cleans perfectly and permanently for only $10!” and I’m always talking her out of it. However, in a business we used to own, we sold a couple of things (jewelry items) to QVC and they were not junk. So I guess one needs to be able to pick out the bad from the good, just like thrift store / discount store shopping.

I have noticed that most of those “aMAZing” items end up being available at hardware stores or Walmart a month or so later at a fraction of the price.

Oh Sue, you know I’ll buy ANYTHING!! LOL!! I am really a sucker. I will bye a lot of crap. From the TV, I’ve only bought one thing and I really like it. It’s a scrap booking cutter and it has a light on it and a really nice guide and it came with 8 “free” cutting edges. I saw it on TV but ordered it online.

SKL……I hate to admit it but I did buy those “miracle” cloths!! Oh, I’m so bad!!! But got them at Shopco and I got 4 for $10. I like them for my glasses. They are the only things I like for them and we have a big gun safe and I like it for polishing that too.

What a subject for me. Did you set me up Sue?????

That’s funny sue. I never thought you would buy anything from the tv! I didn’t get exactly what I thought I ordered but oh well. I ordered a yellow peony tree. On the tv it was 3 feet tall, beautiful! When i got it i had to laugh because my son opened it said, ” mom why did you order a stick?” That’s exactly what it was, A STICK!! But now I’m ok with it because he helped me plant it and we get to watch it grow. It just was not what I expected is all. I’m not sure I will be ordering anything else. I payed $30 for something I probably could’ve gone to walmart and gotten it for $10 and already bloomed!! Lesson learned.

*GULP* I hate to admit it but we’ve done it once each. My hubby bought “the best ladder ever” and it was a piece of s**t. It was supposed to go in all directions…and it really did. Even when you didn’t want it to!! That he sent back. I got what was supposed to be the “ultimate” mop! Another piece of “insert word of choice here” and I didn’t even end up sending it back since I would have had to pay postage and it would have been more than the mop cost. NO MORE FOR US!!!!!

Jane, that’s funny about the ladder as long as nobody got hurt!
