How many of you guys Twitter? More than 6 million people have signed up for an account. I know several of us in this little blog family of ours do. I think it’s okay and it’s kind of fun but when I heard on the news last night that they were figuring out how they could cash in on it and were going to start charging for this service, I thought to myself, there is no way I’d pay in order to do it. Its fun but not THAT fun. I mean there’s fun and then there’s FUN. It’s just fun to me. I say things like “I’m going out to water my flowers” or “I’m going out for dinner.” Some people get pretty descriptive *Gary*cough*cough*Gary* But most of us, at least my followers are just shooting the breeze.
But apparently they are talking about letting advertisers start advertising on the site itself. I kind of like the way it is. I’m not a fan of things flashing and blinking like on so many sites. It’s almost peaceful the way it is. But I can also see their point. If other people are making money off of Twitter for free, I’m all for spreading the wealth that way.

“Both Williams and Stone hinted the company is exploring ways to charge for expanded commercial access to Twitter, but emphasized that all personal accounts will remain free.” So this answers our question that for us simple folk who are only sharing our boredom with everyone, it will still be free.”
So my question is to those of you who do Twitter, would you pay for it? Also, do you have Facebook and would you pay for that? I will say that I’ve had FB for gosh, a good two years now I think and I’ve never had more fun on it until very recently. I’d say the last 6 months. I’ve gotten a hold of a lot of my relatives in Canada. I’ve reconnected with a lot of kids that I grew up with and went to school with. One man, I really wanted to say “kid” but one guy who grew up on the same street as I did. I’ve also gotten back in touch with a large number of kids that were my lunchroom kids. That I watched grow up and always wondered what happened to them. Also, a lot of my peeps here from blogland have joined and we have an awful lot of fun together on FB. We watch the same TV shows and comment to each other and just tease and laugh. It’s fun. It’s really been fun. So, to me, I ‘d pay a monthly fee if it were minimal but there is no way I’d pay for Twitter because it’s really not talking to others. It’s more like just saying something and hoping someone will read it. I like the communicating part.

I don’t use Twitter so I guess I wouldn’t pay for it. But, I’m cheap that way.
nope won’t pay to twitter. I am not that crazy about it. Too much going on to keep track of. I didn’t even care for facebook that much until the queen got me hooked on that goofy farm game.
and I’m addicted to the blogging thing here. But not sure I’d be able to pay for any of it as long as there are free alternatives.
I twitter. I’m not sure why. For me, I think it’s just something to do. I’ve already canceled a few accounts because I get bored with it. I, like you, have had a facebook account for a while and there were times I just didn’t know what I was doing there. It’s only been w/in the last 6 months for me that I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I too have made some past connections and enjoy it. I found my old boss and told him he was mean to me. He apologized and wants to take me out to dinner- LOL! I’ve also been able to keep in touch with high school friends and family – I’m not sure if I’d pay for facebook or not? I know for a fact that Twitter would be out the door in a heartbeat if it becomes overrun with advertisements or they decide to charge… for what? Charge me for my stupid random thoughts?
I have face book and twitter.. Would I pay for either? NOPE! No way no how! I wouldn’t even consider paying for it.
I have twitter only to be able to update my facebook status from the cellphone… which almost never happens anyway.
I would never consider paying for either of them, except for what I pay for sending the short messages to Twitter.. but that’s a whole other thing.
I would never pay for Twitter… I think that if companies and corporations want to advertise on it, they should pay a fee, just like they pay to advertise everywhere else. There could be a “business” account for Twitter that would require payment, and the regular personal account type for the rest of us who just think it’s cute.
Twitter is weird! I set up an account a while ago but never made any kind of comment. It seemed to be too much for me. I have Facebook and love that but wouldn’t pay for either one! Well maybe for Facebook but it’d have to be super cheap! I pay my internet bill…that should be enough!
To be honest, I forget about Twitter. The other thing that has me puzzled is how people find you. What kind of searching things they have because I constantly have new people following me but I block them. This morning I had 4 people now following me that I’ve never heard of. Two people I couldn’t even begin to pronounce their names. Why would someone want to follow someone that they have no idea who they are or who I am? Maybe it’s popularity or something. Don’t they realize it’s only popular in their heads?? How can it be “popular” if you don’t know the person in any way??
Yea I think people do that on Facebook too. I get requests from friends of friends and people I have ZERO connection with. For some I think it’s all about the number of friends you can get. Which is ridicules!
I dont use Twitter…dont even know what its all about.Facebook I love for connecting with famliy most,that I would pay for.Its kept me in touch with the outside world while having to be home alot.
At first, I did not do Twitter. Then I figured, why not. Now, I go and mess with it every once in a while. Do I love it enough to pay? No thank you! I do not have face book. I do not even want to start that! Too much for me!! LOL
Well I agree twitter is fun with a small f and not a big F and no I would not pay for it. Ive read the usually on twitter burn themselves out on it after a month. It’s not very interactive so it really isn’t like a conversation. And if you want to know how dull your life is twitter Ok I’m drinking my coffee or I’m drinking more coffee OK now Ive switched to tea! I’m glad they did not have twitter when I was younger and actually had crazy stuff to twitter about. I don’t like flashing ads either!
Interactive is a really good word to use. Twitter is NOT that. It’s more for random thoughts. I have to say it is fun when I’m out and about and maybe just sitting in my car waiting for someone or something but Facebook is a lot more interactive. It’s really fun to me to be able to talk back and forth without actually sitting on a messenger. People come and go and leave messages for someone and before you know it, the conversation has a big life and it’s really fun to me.
I don’t Twitter. I wouldn’t pay for Twitter if I did Twitter. I have Facebook, but don’t think I’d pay for that either. I’m not on it that much that I couldn’t live without it!
I just started a twitter account and I’m not too fond of it myself. There is no way I would pay for it.
Now Facebook, I love! I would probably pay a small fee for that. I have found so many of my friends and gotten back in touch with a lot of my family.
