  1. mssc54 says:

    Always get there early.

  2. Joy says:

Always carry money in your purse or wallet “just in case” you’re in a bind. People always used to say to carry enough money to make a phone call or get a taxi home but now who needs change for a phone call? You’d have to be able to find a pay phone first!!!

  3. Ellen says:

To be honest, I really do not know. I’ve got so many useful advices. And most of them were very memorable.

  4. SKL says:

I don’t know either. How to narrow it down to one? Probably “the best you can do is good enough.”

  5. Jenny says:

    RELAX

  6. Laura says:

“Babies Bounce” – and I know, it sounds horrible. But it was my parents way of saying that babies, and kids, are far more resilient than we give them credit for. It’s served me well, much to Josh’s frustration when I make him do things himself…

    • SKL says:

My dad told me on a related note, “babies cry.” Obvious, but when it’s your kid making a noise among a group of people, it helps to remember that it doesn’t reflect on you or your kid. (Up to a certain age, anyway.)

  7. “Go scared, but go.” – My dad used to say this a lot when my brother or I were scared of things we wanted to do. I think of it a lot, and it’s always been helpful.

  8. Nikki says:

“Chill out.” Seriously, best piece of advice I have ever gotten. I used to get so bent out of shape, and fly off the handle. I’m much more patient, and go with the flow of life now.

  9. Joy says:

My dad also used to say “if you wish in one hand and shit in the other, which will get full faster?”

    • Phyllis says:

Oh, Joy! My mom always said that too! It’s one my entire family STILL uses. I’ll bet in 20 the great-grandkids will be saying it as well!! LOL 😀

  10. avomnia says:

    Riding on Joy’s coattail . . .

Never kick a fresh turd on a hot day.

  11. SKL says:

Oh, maybe it was my dad’s all-important instruction: “Righty tighty, lefty loosie”?

  12. Phyllis says:

“The secret to success in this life DON’T GET CAUGHT”!!!! Amazingly, it’s the one piece of advice I’ve actually listened to! HA HA!!!!

  13. Laura says:

“It’s always easier to apologize than to ask permission.” So said my brothers right before they got me into buckets of trouble.

    • Phyllis says:

Funny, that’s the second most useful piece of advice. It came from my pastor who said “it’s often easier to be forgiven than get permission”. I use both of the wisdoms a lot!
